    Witlock smells of stupidity.

(By the way: Did someone scramble the order of the words in his first paragraph of that column? Seems to be some weird variation on English.)

lol...nice find. I think that had more to do with a one-deep receiving crew, an early deficit, no support, three broken ribs, and a broken finger.

I love how Whitlock says, "Study tape of the Bengals. Carson Palmer could not trust Ochocinco."

Hey, he might be right. That doesn't mean that the same will happen in New England.

Re: Patriots "smell of desparation and arrogance".

Just read the article, and my first reaction, rather vehement in my mind was, "What a stinking pile!!!"

Whoever this guy writes for certainly stinks of arrogance and desparation for actually paying him a wage for writing tripe like this.

It is, however, nice work if you can find it!

Re: Patriots "smell of desparation and arrogance".

I thought Whitlock was a Chiefs fan.

I'm not really sure if he's an attention whore, an idiot, or one of these people that throws so much crap against the wall hoping that something will stick that he doesn't he even remember what he said yesterday or where stands on any topic of discussion. My opinion of him over the years is that most likely he says and writes things for the sole purpose of stirring the pot, which translates into higher ratings and ad revenues; nothing more and nothing less.

I do remember him stating that the Pats needed to sign Jeff George after Brady went on IR with the knee injury a couple years ago.

The original link at the Kansas City Star seems to have disappeared, but this column gives most of the details:

Re: Patriots "smell of desparation and arrogance".

He hates Pioli..he hates Belichick..he's got an agenda and he has a bias, for whatever reason, against the northeast and the city of Boston. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out what the basic problem is with this guy...in today's P.C. world one cannot label this man with the term usually reserved for the KKK....but if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck....

Re: Patriots "smell of desparation and arrogance".

Whitlock is right. OchoCinco kept on running 30 yard routes and Palmer's maximum throwing distance last year was 15 yards and Palmer didn't trust that OchoCinco could stretch his arm 15 yards back to catch the ball.

BTW, if you want to talk about desperation and arrogance, I say exhibit A is Whitlock thinking he can watch game film on Chad OchoCinco and scout him better than Bill Belichick.

Re: Patriots "smell of desparation and arrogance".

Belichick and the Krafts are desperate, huh? Let's see, they traded away two sixth rounders and a fifth round draft choice in future years for a defensive lineman and a wide receiver. Forget who they got in return. So what?

Whitlock is an idiot. A desperate trade is Mike Ditka trading all of his draft picks in 1999 and his 1st and 3rd rounders in 2000 for Ricky Williams.

It's still amazing to even say it out loud: All of his 1999 draft picks..for Ricky Williams! And he didn't even get a contact high! Can you imagine how awful draft day would be if the coach traded all the picks for one guy with a hookah?

So what if both of these guys do not work out? I do not think Haynesworth will make it to opening day of the regular season and I'm dubious about Ochocinco's discipline in running routes. But so what? We're talking 5th and 6th rounders here in years when Trader Bill has multiple 1s, 2s, and 3s.

Re: Whitlock: Patriots "smell of desparation and arrogance"

The "arrogant" label for Belichick has become a National Sportswriting Cliche for those too stupid and lazy to get to know the man.

And, of course, it only stands to reason that a young team that managed to eke out a paltry 14 wins last year would be forced to make roster moves borne of sheer desperation.

I think this is what drives most media "reporting", in addition to pushing an agenda.

I think he was smelling himself. These are words that always come to mind when I read one of this guy's articles (which I didn't even bother to do this time).
