Cook wants out because he's not getting enough playing time. Coming to NE isn't going to fix that. Also, Shiancoe isn't the physical mismatch that Cook is, but he's a similar style of player and can come back for the Pats' next game.
The New England Patriots already dealt with a disgruntled tight end earlier this season:
Kellen "I'm a Sol-Ja" Winslow Junior.
Still signed him though despite "having the 5 TE's" mentioned earlier.

Eight is not enough?
I seriously doubt the New England Patriots organization will trade for a disgruntled football player, who incidentally will be an unrestricted free agent in 2013.The Dolphins have six WR's on their 53 man roster. You don't think they's jump at the chance at a Welker, Megatron or AJ Green at the right price. I suspect BB isn't collecting TE's for the sake of it and that quantity is trumped by quality in his mind.
7/2/2009: Signed a four-year, $2.450 million contract. The deal included a $700,000 signing bonus. 2012: $615,000, 2013: Free Agent
