anyone have any idea what this was about?? Was their something that preceded this?? Football is violent, but thought the attack on Aaron Francisco a bit weird.. roid rage??? His actions preceded the subsequent safety.. looked pretty sloppy to me.

Madden thought he should have been thrown out.. but not convinced of sincerity of those comments as he may have been pandering to the masses.

Here's the kicker, Terry McCauley had an opportunity to make up for all of the one-sided Steeler calls by simply calling this a PF during the kick. He looked the other way, called it "Post Possession" and the ultimate penalty because of it was a total a 1 3/4 yards as the Cardinals had downed the ball inside the 5, so it was half the distance to the goal. McCauley knew this ahead of time, yet tried to act as though it was a make up call for his one-sidedness towards the black and gold. Ah thanks for the yard and a half Terry........................

Considering Harrison's out of nowhere rejuvenation, I 'll go with 'roid rage. It's exactly what I thought as the foul occurred. BTW, the filthy Steelers are my new team to hate the most. I can't stand Big Boob, Ward, and the drugged up harrsion, they make my stomach crawl...

Has James Harrison been fined for his punching the guy on the field? I know he got the penalty, but where's the fine. David Thomas was fined for his little shove along with his penalty. Harrison was outright punching this guy.

Oh and how about Holmes. Will he be fined for using the ball as a prop after his "glorious" touchdown pass. Didn't Welker get fined for his snow angel? (by the way...he didn't use the ball as a prop with the snow angel)

He never actually punched him. He kept driving him to the ground after the whistle which is what he was called for. I doubt he'll be fined.

Looked to me like he punched him in the back of the head/neck, then later shoved him to the ground. Has to be a fine.

Looks to me like he hits him with an open hand on the shoulder to push him down, then pushes him back a couple of times. Maybe there was something before that I missed though.

EDIT: Actually in looking at the replay I'm not even sure where the penalty is. Maybe the ref thought he punched him.

I didn't think this was worth starting a new thread over. I'm bumping this one since it touched on the issue:

The league got around to fining Santonio Holmes for using the ball as a prop after his game-winning TD catch.

It may have made a difference in the game if the officials actually noticed the offense at the time, but at least the league showed some consistency in doling out their fines.

One part of the article left me puzzled, thanks to our good Commissioner:

How in the world are the officials going to consistently determine what "long after" is? Is it 45 seconds? 1 minute, 30 seconds? Will there be a timer? A panel of judges?

Just foolishness. Either allow TD celebrations or not and move on.

haha, that's great. I wish they would stop worrying about celebrations. It actually helps fans enjoy the game more. There whole reasoning behind it is it sets a bad example. Well why don't they make the players line up and slap each others hands after the game. Letting the players walk off the field is setting a bad example. It's funny what the NFL has come to.

    No Jersey Selected

So... the league fines the guy for celebrating his GAME WINNING SUPER BOWL TOUCHDOWN CATCH but not the thug who threw punches at someone in front of billions of people worldwide? Stop me if this isn't sounding crazy to any of you.
