Why the San Francisco 49ers Love to Stretch - WSJ.com

Interesting article on what SF credits to their relative health. Is it really different than what other teams do? And surprise, surprise, NE players have missed the most games the last two years of the final four.

Doesn't matter what you do.

When a 200-350lbs man falls on your knee/ankle in an awkward way, something is going to be damaged.

Yeah, that's a really bad muscle pull on Gronk's forearm.

Considering that our players have missed a whopping 176% more games than 49ers players have over the past 2 years...maybe it couldn't hurt to start stretching a little more religiously

I know it can't prevent some injuries but overall it could make a difference

especially hamstrings.

It also "helps" that pretty much every #%@%ing team in the league knows that if they don't bring their A game, the Patriots will likely run them off the field. As a result, most opponents view a game against the Patriots as "their Super Bowl."
