Friday's NFL statement

NFL's response:

"...the evidence thus far supports the conclusion that footballs that were under-inflated were used by the Patriots in the first half..."

The statement is confusing and misleading. In truth, it should say,

"We have evidence that footballs were measured below the PSI listed in the rulebook in the first-half. However, we know that the air pressure was measured valid prior to the game. Thus, we are investigating if this is entirely due to the expected drop in air pressure when footballs are brought outside on a winter day in Massachusetts. Also, just in case, we hired a team to review the video evidence of any tampering and will interview other teams as well."

They can't say this because they never said they measured the PSI pregame. never. They said they inspected the balls. There is a reason they said this and made it confusing. It is weasel words to try to make it seem like they are saying something they can later say they didn't say. They didn't say they measured the PSI pregame because they didn't. That is why they had to use the words under inflated vs deflated. Deflated means it went down. Under inflated means it wasn't at the prescribed limit. A huge difference in these words.
