    1) Hve Brady under center on all but 3rd and long.
    2) Involve the running backs and tight ends in the passing game, expecting at least 8 players to have signifcant receptions.
    3) Add more screens.
    4) Limit the use of Welker as the first read.

what you've outlined there reminds me of Patriots football...from 2001 to about 2006...seems like there's been a confluence of independent events that have occured that changed the way this team approaches the game...."you can't go home again" echoes from past memories...wish we could

I think they just need to mix it up and expand the playbook. The less predictable they are, the harder they are to stop on 3rd down.

Other than that they just need the O-line to get their **** together.

I agree with the first three. Not sure about #4. What is the reasoning for limiting Wes as first read? Too Predictable?

I mentioned this in anither thread but it seems we can do this in the first quarter but then the O-Line starts to break down, TB panics and were back to the gun and forcing it to Welker play after play. The answer to this is to stick with a running game for more than 5 carries in the second half but it seems no-one wants to do it even when LoMO is running hard and Morris is back - thsi again I suspect is because the O-Line is so poor

Despite the numbers, I am absolutely certain Brady is off his game mentally this season. Whether or not that is owing to his knee rehabilitation or what I don't know, but combine that with some shoddy offensive line play I don't see him progressing through his reads as much as what he used too. (Well from as much as a television screen can show you anyway)

Maybe its time to get rid of Gisele. Not like permanantly. Just for the next two months. :D

thought at the beginning of the game yesterday, they were being innovative...i.e. running out of the shotgun, and it looked successful..

But then it descended into same old, same old..

BTW need to find another punt returner, Welker is taking a beating... give up 2-3 yards of punt returns, to help him stay healthy...

They've been running out of the shotgun for awhile now. Nothing new about it.

    1. Rush all 11 defensive players on obvious passing situations. It's the only way we have a chance at getting some pressure on the QB

#5. Brady stop throwing INT's at key moments in the game namely the Red Zone and forcing long bombs.

My point is simple, from my view initially the game plan seemed innovative, but then it turned into same old... consider the two three and outs in the 4th quarter, and the last series... this is hardly innovation, nor is it ball control.

Miami had something like 72 plays to 52, TOP 27.23 NEP... 32.37 Miami, hardly an offensive scheme that would lend itself to keeping the ball in the hands of the offense..

I totally agree. Brady has developed some very bad tendencies, and needs to get away from them.

It is too predictable to use Welker so much, especially as a first read. Welker could still have all the catches as the occasional first read and a late read on lots of plays (as should be the case for a slot receiver).

And just BTW, it is a very strange offense where the slot receiver is the your #1 read.

    Absolutely agree 100%.

Unfortunately it's taken 12 games into this season, and a 7-5 record, to get some support behind this.

I like your thoughts. I'm finding myself rooting for Aiken a lot.

I was new to Pats football in '06 and only really got to know the players through '07 and '08, but I get the sense that physical lunch-box guys are the kind of heroes this team needs and the steady progression of Maroney and Aiken along with Welker's consistent play is more of what we need to see.

I've been watching other games full of guys who are are, for all intents and purposes, nobodies who are working hard on something special. It's easy to feel good about these kinds of players.

Putting Brady under centre more and going back to some hard-nosed football with a nice SPRINKLING of the razzle-dazzle would be amazing.

Yesterday's PA pass TD was beautiful because it wasn't painfully obvious. Shortly after that the game got very obvious.

So I like all your points, but I think some more painful personnel adjustments are in order.

Yeah, good point. I wonder if it's just that Brady trusts Wes to make plays and so he looks to him first. I just wish the rest of the offense (and the D for that matter) cared as much as Wes does. He was pissed yesterday.

So would you rather have Tom Brady get killed by the opposition's pass rush by season's end or take your chances with Laurence Maroney/Sammy Morris?

Maybe we can call up Weis to smack Brady in the head this offseason, He's went from clutch to Peyton Manning-esque choking this season.
