    #54 Jersey

I really can't stand it anymore, I love this time of year but the wait is kiling me.

I use this board but feel free to use your own:
    NFL Draft - 2010 Draft Prospects - CBSSports.com - NFLDraftScout.com

    Shooting from the hip

    #22 - Jerry Hughes, OLB/DE, TCU
    - addresses most obvious need
    - thought process, plays 3rd downs in year one

#44 - Aaron Hernandez, TE, Florida
    - offensive playmaker
    - thought process - becomes the lightening to some stiff's Crumbler's thunder at the TE position

#47 - Kareem Jackson, CB, Alabama
    - adds a good (not great player) to the secondary
    - thought process, might as well have a good secondary for once

#53 -Trade to Dallas for Marcus Spears
    - thought process, have to feed the beast, always a need at DLine

Look to add more competition at LB and a developmental WR in the later rounds. Maybe a player like Hardy drops who could be tapped to replace Jarvis Green.

I think Dallas would part with an end for less than a second. Spears is tendered at a #1 actually. They have Bowen and Hatcher tendered at a #2. They also have Olshansky at RDE.

No he's not. Dallas did give him the "original round" tender, but since they gave the 1st & 3rd tender to Miles Austin, they can only get a 2 as comp for Spears.

    #24 Jersey

    This was my four :

"1 - Demaryius Thomas. Great Wunderlich pushes me over the top to take a shot on a guy who has a lot to learn. Hopefully the worst case is he's usable but he has stud potential.

2a - Maurkice Pouncey. C, G, play him wherever, I like him and I think he can help us at either position.

2b - Ricky Sapp. Not sure which pass rusher I want but there seems to be momentum for him making it to this spot and we have to get some pass rush. Pencil in a different OLB if you prefer.

2c - Montario Hardesty. I'm tired of the 4 Horsemen. Hardesty runs hard and came out of the combine looking like a great athlete. He also doesn't have too much wear and tear on him."

But I was convinced that Pouncey likely won't be there.

    So . . .

    Thomas
    Sapp
    Saffold
    Hardesty

Is now my 4 I think. We could really use another good OT with Light nearing the end. I could also be talked into a second OLB as we desperately need pass rush.

Good work to put this together Cousin. I don't agree with all of your picks but I like the thought process of moving a Draft pick which is at best, an unknown quantity, for an NFL proven younger player.

    I would rather trade #22 for one or the other of these two;
1A=WR Brandon Marshall. We are instantly better with a core young talented WR. The Broncos require a #1. This would not upset me to give up this pick. He's better than anyone on the board at #22. We all know the story of his downside. You don't know what can happen to any of these Drafted kids either. Look at Big Ben. Who saw that one coming. Sometimes the devil you know is better than the one you don't.
    OR
1B=DE/OLB Ray Edwards. Again an on the rise young talent. They say his D-Line made him better. To say that Vince and Warren are not good D-Line partners is a "Vince-slap".11 Sacks in the last 11 games including play-offs. There has to be at least some talent. RFA price is a first rounder(second and fourth perhaps?)

I like Cody at #44. If you think about it he is the only real game changer in the Draft. You have to game plan to go around him, not push us tight up the middle versus the Ravens in the play-offs. You can move Vince wide and he will still play well. Mayo makes more tackles etc.

#47. I think Hughes is available. I would use this pick. We need a 5 tech DE just as bad. Wooten could also be considered. That kid can play and on his way back from a 2008 ACL. If we don't not get a Brandon Marshall WR, we might use this pick to go WR Demaryius Thomas if we go 1B with Edwards in my scenario RFA at #22.

#53 can go many ways. Again pending on what happen at #22 in my (IMO) scenario, I think an under the radar, BB being BB pick might be RB Toby Gerhart. He is moving up the boards and surpassing some of these other RBs. Every one of them has fleas in this year RB class.

But regardless of us picking up Crumpler we still need at TE. I say spend it wisely on Greg Olsen. If you would spend a #44 on Hernandez why not a 60 reception , 8 TD 25 year old kid who is a proven NFL player? That would take some pressure of of Welker and Moss instantaneously.

My plan "1C" here would be SILB the dropping Brandon Spikes, He and Mayo would be a great tandem. Bruschi was said to be too slow at about a 4.87 40. I can't find Ted Johnson's numbers but I am sure he was not any faster. Spikes was timed at the best a high 4.9's. Can he make plays?

    Summary1A:
    Trade #22 WR Marshall
    #44 DTCody
    #47 OLB Hughes
Trade #53 TE Olsen or Draft RB Gerhart

    Summary 1B:
Trade #22 RFA DE/OLB Ray Edwards
    #44 DT Cody
    #47 WR Demaryius Thomas
Trade #53 TE Olsen or (1C) Draft ILB Spikes

    Just a thought.

This is wrong. Dallas was originally under this impression but the league clarified that the fact that they gave the first&third tender to Miles Austin did not prevent them from getting 1st round comp for Spears.

I like Carrington. He is a little raw but he would work. There is your 5 tech DE.

    22) Earl Thomas: As a CB not a S.
    44) Demaryius Thomas: Broken foot so he can't workout. Hope he drops this far.
    47) Eric Norwood
    53) Aaron Hernandez

Later picks for DE and the OL. These four can contribute this season. Earl as a nickelback; Demaryius will take Aikens catches; Norwood will get sacks; Aaron as a rookie can replicate Watson.

Got a link? Because that is not what the CBA says.

    #54 Jersey

    Marcus Spears

"Cowboys extended an original draft-pick tender to restricted free agent DE Marcus Spears.

Despite a solid season in 2009, Spears is slated to earn just $1.229 million this year -- less money than his backups are earning. He was originally drafted in the first round, but the Cowboys will only receive a second-rounder if Spears is poached."

My most recent 4 was :

    Thomas
    Sapp
    Saffold
    Hardesty

I have now changed to :

    Thomas
    Saffold
    Sapp
    Carrington

I think I missed the forest for the trees while leaving Carrington out before. We now get the WR I want along with a bookend OT for Vollmer, some pass rush from Sapp and a high upside 3-4 DE although I wish Carrington was more ready to play this year.

I could easily be talked into Odrick over Thomas and putting in a different WR instead of Carrington but this is my preferred 4 as of today.

    #11 Jersey

    Hughes/graham/misi/kindle olb
    wooton/carrington 34 de
    pitta/hernandez te
    veldheer/charles brown/anthony davis ot

wr isnt as big of a need as everyone thinks..its hard to find the next randy moss and i think best bet is drafting one in next years class or in the next off season..we can always find edelman/welkers as udfa's or late in the draft

That is one of the better ones I have seen. Addresses 3 major needs with players that would fit.

The only problem I have is taking another CB. I don't see CB or S as positions that need an early pick. Maybe some late round camp competition, but not the 2nd round.

Replace CB with a WR and it would be real good.

In typical knee jerk fashion, change the pick to Arrelious Benn if it makes you feel better.

I can't yet find the place I originally read about it but here's some comments from AdamJT13 (whose reputation should preceed him around here) that at least acknowledge the current thinking is they'll get a first despite the CBA.
