issues report cards? When has he ever taught anyone in the Patriots
organization anything?
good report or bad ...
..... the title makes me think Mr. Felger is rather presumptuous IMO.
Felger's Borges Jr. character was just that. He played a character for the radio to drum up rating for his show. He learned from the "best". Borges realized that he could write the best articles in the world, but if they toed the party line they were forgotten after they were read. When he became the Pats/Belichick hater, everyone talked about his articles. Felger learned from that.
Now that Felger doesn't have to carry a radio show or sell newspapers, he is moving back to his pre-ESPN days where he was fair and balanced and brought a lot of intelligent insight. In 2001 through 2004, he was where Mike Reiss is now in terms of respect and popularity.
These report cards are ridiculous - how do you give the secondary such a high grade, yet fail but fail O'Neal? The secondary tightned up the second half no doubt - but it does not erase the bad first half play.
Cassell's grade is too high. He says that Casell has no "pocket presence" - and why should he? Um - because it's professional football and he's been practicing and preparing forever and quite frankly I donlt give a rats azz anymore that he hasn't played since high school.
Also, I have no doubt that his new "attitude" is mandated/scripted.

First off these report cards while ridiculous are no less ridiclous than the armchair critiques that litter this fine establishment... The secondary played better once they adjusted the entire defense and got aggressive and started pressuring up front. That was after the first quarter btw. From there on out they played exceptionally well against a Mike Martz offense including 3 picks save for a penalty induced late score. Average that out and you get... an above average grade.
Cassel (with one L) has no pocket presence relative to the best in the business. Same can be said for lots of several year veterans if you actually watch other NFL games like say MNF this week where the early favorite of some for NFL MVP got clobbered from his blindside and actually lost the ball and the game to boot... Cassel made 2 mistakes and one was not his fault while the other was not costly as our secondary returned the favor moments later... He led this offense to 30 points and a dominant time of posession game. Duh...
I wish Ian would mandate and script new "attitudes" here sometimes... only because rational is more interesting than ranting.
