Coincidentally, I just listened to parts of a couple of old ESPN broadcasts w/ Mark Schlereth. I didn't hear anything wrong with what he was saying. E.g., as an old OL, he thinks crowd noise violations are much bigger than ball violations. On ball violations he properly called out the Vikings as being more egregious than anything the Patriots supposedly did. Etc.
I can forgive any errors I did hear him make. E.g., I think he was very impressed by the phrase "... own brand of industrial justice" without knowing it came from earlier court cases. More seriously, he seemed to be suggesting Brady did something or other to footballs. But then -- if we take BB's January presser literally, the Patriots prepare footballs in a way that does have an effect on pressure, and whether or not the rulebook cleanly prohibits that, I wouldn't have objected to a small knuckle rap -- i.e. fine only -- for the result.
