I'd like to point something out to my fellow PatsFanners, all of whom I respect and love (let's see how many "likes" that blatent brown-nose maneuver gets):

DE Eric Moore started 2 games for the Pats last year, before his year ended due to injury. He had 2 sacks.

DE Mike Wright started 5 games, and had 5.5 sacks, before his year ended due to injury.

If both start 16 games this year they will end up with 16 sacks, and 17.6 sacks respectively.

I'm not sayin', I'm just sayin'. :)

I do believe they both played in more games than they started. Wright played in every game up until the Colts game where he was injured, no?

True, they did, but that screws up my slanting of the stats. :)

I've been talking about Mike Wright nonstop these past few weeks. Nobody gives that guy the credit he deserves. If you go back and watch last year's games (like I have), you'll see the guy was just disruptive to opposing teams. He stunts very well and he's very powerful. I was particularly impressed with the way he played at Pittsburgh. He was a nightmare for them.

With the additions, I'm sure he'll see less time as a "starter" and more time in pass rush situations. He definitely knows how to get to the passer.

+1. I did notice that he kinda improved his run stuffing skills this year compared to last year.

Let's hope Mike stays healthy...he's probably one headshot away from a career ender.......

Can't wait to see how disruptive the Pats reworked DL and LB's will be this year vs opposing RB's and QB's..........

A top 10 D will surely get them to The Dance :)

Wright was the Pats top interior pass rusher. The added presence of Haynesworth and Ellis could open things up for Wright in a big way.

What excites me is the depth of skill players on the DLine. IIRC, Wright was releatively injury free until called upon to be an every down player last year. He's strong, but he's somewhat small for a DT, so he can wear down. Although concussion recovery is a dicey business, being better rested when he's out there could make him an even stronger presence this year.

I just hope both of them stay healthy enough to play in the Jets game and smash that smug little punk rapist...smash his punk face in with a vicious forearm shiver shot...arrogant little punk..

I'm giving you a Likey because I admire your optimism, misplaced as it may be.
And because you're an old fart like me.
