I'd like to hear your opinion on whether or not the Pats will (or should) draft a safety this year. I personally think that the Pats will not use a high draft pick on a safety. The Pats have invested 3rd (G. Scott) and 4th (J. Sanders) round picks in the last couple of drafts at the safety position. I think the Pats are expecting that at least one of these two will be a suitable replacement for Harrison. Whether they pan out, however, remains to be seen. I think if the Pats were to draft a safety in the early rounds it would signal that they've struck out on these two picks.

The problem at Safety is there's no long term guy to replace Harrison unless they think Sanders or Scott will be. Tebucky, Hawkins, Mitchell likely aren't. My gut feeling says no, we have enough depth for this year and Scott/Sanders should get another year. But the staff likely has a feel for the young guys and it they think they're career backups it wouldn't be surprising with one of our #3s.

Maybe a small LB for STs and SS conversion, I don't see a true safety or a conversion until the 5th round.

I agree. While I've been a big Bing fan, I don't see the Pats going after a safety before Round 3. That said, I think there's a good chance that you see one of the number 3's being a safety.
