I'd rather see him than Hobbs doing kickoff returns. Plus, I *do* believe in good karma, and having Troy Brown on the field in a big game gives it!

As much as I'd like to see it, I think it's doubtful you'll see much of him. Maybe on punt returns

    ....if there are any. :)

You can take this to the bank:

Inactive for Super Bowl XLII- Matt Gutierez, Troy Brown.

Reiss said in his chat yesterday that he has a feeling he will. Didn't say why, but unless we have a need elsewhere for depth due to injury, it works for me. Anyone notice we had several kick returners vs. SD - Bill seems to want to lighten the load for Hobbs and Welker down the stretch, and there is no way he plays CJ in this one given his inexperience and limited capacity. Troy still potentially covers 3 or 4 positions as at least a 2nd or 3rd string option.

Troy's also played in a grand total of one game this year...and that was the Pats last regular season home game over a month ago. He won't be up to "game speed" even with an extra week of practice.

Hobbs was #7 in the entire NFL returning kickoffs and you want to replace him with brown? Your letting your sentimental feelings get in the way of the patriot success. Do you still wish bledsoe was the QB of this team?

So who among the other 7 choices will be? How many of them have EVER played a snap in a Superbowl...

You've got to get experience sometime. The Super Bowl is no time to play an old player for old time's sake.

I bet he's active JIC this thing turns into a blowout. If it is, then I bet they try to get him the ball one last time. Remember BB letting Flutie try the drop-kick or Vinny tossing a TD? I know this is the Super Bowl, but if the game is in hand, Troy will play.

Only if it's late in the 4th quarter and the Pats are up by 3 or 4 scores.

The last time he "touched" the ball it bounced off his facemask and the other team recovered the punt...just saying.

I totally agree with you, the game must be in hand first. No way do I chance it otherwise.

im pretty sure troy brown was active for the jacksonville playoff game. not positive, but i remember seeing him on the field. i think he could very well play. it all depends on the gameplan and if any injuries come up between now and the game.

Rather see him than Hobbs? Why?

Hobbs is one of the best in the NFL. Brown is one game away from the retirement home. I love Troy, but let's keep emotions out of this. :)

I'd rather not have anything happen to Hobbs who has been nursing an injury the last couple of weeks.

Um...WHY???? I love Troy, but that's a silly preference. Hobbs is GREAT in kick returns and Troy is about 7th on the list of guys I want returning kicks.

Troy has fumbled what, 50% of the punts he's taken this year? I love the guy, but play the best guys on the team please.

Only that wasn't the last time he touched he ball. He had 5 other returns in that game including a very nice one...he averaged 9.2 yards per, compared to Welker's season average of 10.0.
