Hahahaha
I thought Dennard was a sufficient number two through 2012-2013 but he was struggling when he was on the field this year.Maybe Dennard never was worth a damn. I mean, the 2013 Pats defense did have big problem getting off the field on obvious 3rd and long passing downs. Clearly, Belichick saw a need to upgrade the CB position (Browner signing).
Decent zone corner, no good at man coverage?
Sure, if we want to be all negative and depressing than sure that's what I mean. When you say earn do you mean Boyce actiaved for a meaningless last game of the season, where any other WR with an injury will not play, and warm bodies will be needed to catch passes mostly from JAG?
If that's what you mean by earned then I agree.
I'd love to see Boyce step up and become productive, just really catch fans/coaches/BB's eye with some solid play. However, this 'promotion' is not likely an indication of that wishful impending breakout. The promotion is an indication that warm bodies are needed to fill in for guys who actually will be catching passes in the post season. Just is what it is......
I think it was the lack of pending charges and offseason jail time that threw him off his game. This is the first season in his NFL career that he wasn't out on bail during, there is an adjustment obviously.True. It still had to be a stressful offseason mentally. I'm as puzzled as everyone else. I thought Dennard had established himself as at least a decent JAG-level starting CB in the NFL. Heck, he was the starter on opening day. He's really fallen off a cliff.
I'm surprised that Dennard wasn't sent to IR a bit earlier. I'm also surprised that Swanson was cut from the Practice Squad when Dennard having issues. Of course, Swanson is now back.
Maybe. Red this morning that there was another team poking around.Or it says that he turned down people attempting to sign him to stay with the Pats..
Still hate that trade to this day, in case you cared.
EHIII had his limitations, but he also had a role. To take it one step further, he produced on KORs as well.
but the timing and situation makes it almost certain this is a short lived promotion
Hopefully Boyce can offer more than Tyms has of late.
Actually, after the "top 2" we're "carrying" a Pro-Bowler. Our "#4" is really a PR/KR guy, who, if he was on a rookie contract, everyone would be in love with. Tyms is a "project" who's likely gone in the offseason. We'll see. The team has been carrying one less WR since putting Dobson on IR and no one is thrilled about the WRs after the top two. If I had to guess, I'd say he's on the roster through the playoffs.
Wish I'd seen that before I posted. St guys carry big weight with Bill. Like to hear that (black jersey) stuff.Tyms has been contributing on special teams and has been cited recently for a couple of key blocks on running plays. He also has been the recipient of the "black jersey" a few times for his work as one of the practice players of the week.

Indeed. And he hasn't had a reception since the first Buffalo game in October.
...and the drop on the 15 yd slant vs Indy didn't help either.Dropping an easy catch in the opening series against Denver was his downfall.
3 according to Profootballreference.comAnd how many targets had Tyms since the Buffalo game? i just remember 1, the other were in bombs, low % plays.
