DeAndre Hopkins is available

It's a near-run thing for me, given his age, However, given Bill's abysmal record drafting top receivers, maybe it is the thing to do, if the price and length of contract are reasonable. I'd like to see our higher draft picks go to OL, maybe a corner in any case. If we can keep Jacoby, I think the receiver complement ain't that bad.

If they are doing interviews for an OC then I doubt O'Brien is being considered as a candidate, They'd just hire him back like they did McDaniels.
They can't hire him without interviewing other/minority candidates. This stuff has been talked about over and over and over.

The Pats have Bourne and Parker signed up and combined they are less money than 1 year of Hopkins. Bother Parker and Bourne are younger.

The risk is spread out over 2 players.
Sorry man, but you can’t compare Bourne & Parker to Hopkins

That’s like saying, we don’t need Bobby Orr, because we have Dallas Smith & Gary Doak.

Parker can’t stay on the field & a healthy Bourne can’t convince the coaches to give him meaningful playing time over stiffs like Agholor & Thornton.

Well that's Patricia.

Also wouldn't call Thornton a stiff he was a rookie with a worse OC than he had in college

Are you impressed & encouraged with Thornton’s performance?

Would you draft him again in the second round ?

My answer is no & no.
He reminds me of Dorsett, a fast guy who runs lousy routs & struggles to separate despite having excellent speed.

Hopkins or Bill O'Brien. Pick one.

Most Rookie WR's stink their first year if he stinks next year he will be considered a Bust!

That Troy Brown experiment as WR Coach should be over too love Troy B but he's need a new profession.

Not sure about Troy as a WR coach either. It will be interesting to see what role he ends up with next year.

After watching Julio Jones fall off a Cliff after 30 not sure I like the prospects of Hopkins.

I’d much prefer Higgins or Aiyuk
I'm a little nervous with that outcome too but we could really make a serious run next year with Hopkins - Parker - Thornton and another Rookie. We need to also find another Slot WR somehow get back to our roots.

I could see Troy Brown as a return specialist coach. I agree we need a true WR1 that opposing defenses need to game plan for.

Is Aiyuk a UFA?

LOL

The draft classes seem to be brimming with WR talent . take another swing at WR in 1st or second round. Eventually we will get it right . Do it within top 40 and don't wait for 45. Move up using our 2nd and 3rd to get a marquee player if available.

D-Hop is certainly an interesting option. He’ll be the first patriots split end who can separate since the aughts. It will be nice to have a single player on the roster who can generate separation. I assume the logic behind the evaluation is two good years vs trade cost. Then assuming he can help mentor the developmental flanker you have in Thornton. D-Hop is certainly an interesting option. The potential confidence boost of having a legit outlet might save the qb too.

hard pass

if the pats trade for a WR it better be for a WR who is young and in his last contract year like the eagles did for aj brown
anything else would be stupid
trading for a WR who is missing ton of games, on the wrong side of 30, ton of cap space. and using draft picks for young cheap starters to get him
does not make any sense
