I like how some of the picks are different than all the other mocks out there. It is also interesting who they have NE getting:

1.24: Patrick Willis LB Ole Miss (Just like Kiper, they have him falling to NE. This comes even after his Pro Day performance. their comments: "In this projection, they look at one of the best LB’s to come out in years, in Ole Miss’ Patrick Willis. Willis was the clear-cut leader of the Ole Miss defense from his MLB spot, and had great tackle production throughout his career. As a senior, he had 137 tackles, after putting up 128 playing injured as a junior. Instinctive and fiery, the athletic Willis is arguably the best pure MLB prospect since Jonathan Vilma in 2004." Considering that discription, his 4.37-40 time, and that other people have been starting to say simular things about Willis, I can't see him lasting that long. I am not sure he'll even make it out of the top 12, but one can only hope.)

1.28: Michael Griffin S texas (They have the Eagles taking a WR at 26 but I don't really agree with this. The Eagles have in my opinion always been the biggest threat to Griffin lasting 'till the 28th pick.)

3.27: Desmond Bishop LB California (I like this pick. I have Bishop ranked as one of my top five ILB prospects. I think there might be better Backers still on the board, though. If Bradley is still on the board he should be the pick here.)

Interesting note: They have Posluszny going to Chicago at 31, and I could totally see them picking him if he last that long. Briggs wants out. Pusluszny would likely be the pefect fit playing next to Urlacher.

The more you see drafts like this...the more clear it is how completely clueless these people are.

It makes you wonder... are they really even doing any research on these picks??

Seriously.. it really makes you wonder.

Yea, some of those picks seem off, but I do think some of their projections could be accurate.

There isn't a single horrible pick there. There's some I disagree with but it's a perfectly reasonable mock. Let me guess, you're upset that Griffin lasted that long ?

I would be satisfied with that draft. Although I see Bishop as more of a 2nd day guy the 1st rounders are quality players.

Alright...let's see... I don't even know where to start.

    ********************************************************

I will start with the #1 overall. Although it is debatable; Oakland is NOT taking Russell. There are already reports out of the Raiders camp that they are concerned that Russell doesn't have a good work ethic, and that his weight issues concern them. With an almost SURE-FIRE future Superstar sitting there in Calvin Johnson, there is is NO WAY I see them passing on him. Al Davis knows better. Do you remember the last time the Raiders took a QB in the first round? If not, all you gotta do is a google search for the top 5 NFL busts of all time. You will find him there.

Charles Johnson at #17 overall!??? Did Georgia have a pro day where Johnson walked on water and turned grain into gold or something??

Chris Houston over Darelle Revis?? Hell... Leon Hall over Darelle Revis is not even a sure bet at this point. A smart GM will recognize that.

7-Wr's going in the first round... SEVEN? There are NOT seven WR's in this draft with first round talent. I'm sorry, but that is just ridiculous!! And just look where he has some of them going...

Ted Ginn Jr to Denver!?- Come-on. We all hate Rat boy... But he is not that stupid. Give him SOME credit. NO WAY they opt for a flashy under-sized skill position player with this pick. What Denver team has this guy been watching over the years?

Anthony Gonzalez to Indy!?- "Lets see... we couldn't stop the run to save our lives for a good portion of last season... and we could really use some help at CB, LB, and DT... But HECK!! Why not add another WR!!?" :wha:

Dwayne Bowe to Dallas??- "You know... we really could use a good cover guy here, and Darrelle Revis is on the board... So is Brandon Meriweather... Aaron Ross... Mike Griffin. Oh yeah, and O-line could be a slight concern for us too. Joe Staley might be able to help us out right away. But ya know what... Lets go ahead and take a WR that will have to compete for looks with T.O, Glenn, and Witten!!"

Patrick Willis falling to #24?? The guy just (allegedly) ran a 4.3/40 and is the PRIEMERE ILB in the draft (the next guy is not even CLOSE). Nufced.

"This off-season, the Bears have started things off right by already franchising LB Lance Briggs, but could look to upgrade Hunter Hillenmeyer opposite the pro-bowler. In this projection, they go with Penn State LB Paul Posluszny." -- Does this statement sound like a guy who knows what he is talking about?? Honestly...

    *******************************************************

I can go on and on with this thing... seriously man. You're selling me a bit short with the Griffin @ 28 shot.

Do I think he will make it to #28?? No, I really don't. But that's not the only reason I dislike this Mock.

I just don't think this guy did a very good job with his research. :nono:

I think both of those are possible.

He took a similar player, Lelie, in the first round a few years ago.

Polian doesn't value defense. They have no 3rd WR and Harrison has to slow down soon, he just does. This wouldn't surprise me at all.

See Indy. Glenn was drafted the same year as Harrison - he won't last forever.

Willis probably goes before 24 but he's not considered a stud, he's good, the best LB in the draft. But he's not looked at like Hawk, or the like, was last year.

Probbaly a little WR heavy. But all the picks have some legitimacy - I guess all mocks should be exactly the same then we wouldn't have this problem.

    1. Denver will not take a flashy, or undersized skill position player? Have you been paying attention to their drafting habits? D-Will: undersized skill position player. Lelie: Flashy skill position player.

    2. Dallas might draft a CB (Houston is the CB they are rumored to have interest in) their second area of need is WR. They don't need a Safety (Griffin, Meriweather), since they just signed Ken Hamlin, and already have a decent backup in Pat Watkins. They resigned Colombo, and spent 49M on Leonard Davis, so O-Line wouldn't seem to be that much of a need here. I could still see them picking an O-Linemen, but not before a WR, or CB. TO is an uncertainty, and could find his way to the door, Glenn is getting old, and their third WR Crayton is a UFA next season, so they could use another WR. Dallas decided against playing Anthony Henry at FS, so he'll return to CB. They could still upgrade the position, though.

    3. Griffin could fall to 28, and that is not unrealistic at all. He is likely not going an earlier than 17 (If Jacksonville takes him, doubt it.) Dallas was a team looking for a Safety, but they signed Hamlin, and Meriweather was their man, anyways. NO was interested in a first round Safety, but they signed kaesviharn, so their out of the Safety market. The two teams that are the biggest threat to Griffin lasting until 28 are NE at 24, and Philly at 26, so there is a chance he falls to 28.

    4. Also, I know these guys watch a lot of actual film, go to the combine and actually meet with prospects, and actually have connections with NFL teams, so I wouldn't go throwing stones at them claiming they haven't done any research, at all. It is one thing to disagree with their opinions, but your insults are quite another.

I think Bishop would be available in day 2 also, but this guy can play and i'd be happy to have him on our team no matter where he's selected (except for maybe the first round... then refer to the throwing out the tv thread. haha)

I guess ANYTHING is possible... But It is HIGHLY unlikely that Chris Houston is taken BEFORE Darelle Revis. It really is.

...and how did that work out for him?? That is my point!! Rat Boy doesn't strike me as the type to make the same mistake twice.

There is a difference between not valuing defense, and just being plain old stupid. If you a re looking for a #3 WR (well #4 when you include Dallas Clark), there are PLENTY to be had in the later rounds of this draft. With their losses on D#, I cant imagine a scenario in which they take a WR in the first round.

Neither is T.O.... but their window is shutting fast. Jones wants to win now. Bringing in a #4th option WR does nothing for them this season. There are plenty of WR's in this draft with potential to develop into good NFL players eventually; which can be had in the later rounds (Paul Williams, Jason Hill come to mind).

Not "probably". DEFINITLEY. Above I said that "anything" was a possibility.... I take that back. This is NOT a possibility.

A true ILB that runs a 3.4/40, with immediate impact potential, does not last 24 picks. As for the Hawk comparison... that's just not fair. It's not that Hawk was so much better then Willis. He just played on a better team and received allot more hype. Willis has been the best ILB in the country for the last two seasons.

What is it with the sarcasm dude?? Seriously? I'm not suggesting that they "all be the same", I'm just saying that IMO, this mock is not a very good one. What's wrong with that? Isn't that why we post these mocks?? Do discuss/debate them? To give our "Opinions" on them?? Are we not allowed to disagree with them?

How am I "insulting" anyone?? I am just disagreeing with this mock. I think it's laughable. That's MY opinion.

Allot of folks watch tons of film (myself included for my own website), lots of people watch the combine/senior bowl coverage, and lots of people have connections with the NFL (a personal friend of mine actually PRODUCED allot of the senior bowl coverage). That doesn't mean anything to me.

I'm not insulting them personally. I'm sure they are good people. And if they actually have done their research (IMO), this mock does not reflect it.

Sheesh... since when did so many New Englanders get "thin skinned"!?? Isn't this what we do around here... Second Guess people? It is part of the sports culture in this town! :D

I didn't say watch the combine/senior bowl coverage, I said they actually go to it, and interview prospects, personally. Any moron (not calling you a moron) can watch the combine and give you their opinion, but it is another thing to actually be there, and meet the potential draftee's. Producing Senior Bowl coverage, is not at all what I consider being a league insider.

Concerning the Dallas Cowboys taking a WR at 22.

On your own website you give this comment concerning the 2007 Cowboys

"This team has many question marks for 2007. Will TO be back? Can Terry Glenn stay healthy again? Will Romo regress? Will the offense change schemes under the new head coach?"

But when talking about CDS giving the Cowboys Dwayne Bowe you make it sound like WR is behind O-Line, S, CB, and maybe even another position, when it comes to their draft needs. If you've truelly been doing your research you'd know that WR is among their top two needs for this season, and 2008, which is more important when drafting.

Also, do you have a mock, any prospect profiles/scouting reports, or interviews on your website? I'd like to see your scouting reports, since you have such strong views concerning these prospects, and their draft placement. Thanks in advance.

If you have knowledge of them doing that, then that is good "hard work" on their part. But it still doesn't make their Mock any more credible. The players aren't giving them any (non standard) replies that would indicate where they are going to be drafted.

Dude. When you are a producer at the NFL network; and you work up close and personal everyday with the "talking heads". I think it is safe to say that you get a fair share of "insider" information.

I am not responsible for what other folks give as their own opinions in collumns. One of the things that we try to do at our website, is allow our users free space to "Blog" their thoughts. (Obviously we screen stuff before it gets published; but we do not restrict things, if we happen to disagree with it.)

Eventually the Barracuda "User Blog section" will be rolled out, which will give ALL users free space to write (without discretion). Hopefully the users will take advantage of the free blog space to debate some of the articles you see on the site now. If you want to write some stuff about the Pats, I would be MORE then happy to publish it for you. I always welcome my "own kind". lol-
My Mock is in the works. I will not publish it until one week before the draft. I want to make sure that I account for all/most of the off-season activity, prior to putting it out there. I just don't see the sense in doing 4/5/6 different mocks, that I will have to change whenever a move is made that is likely to affect things.

You have to remember; while our site is an "all sports" community, we are rooted by Fantasy Sports. We are not a "dedicated" Mock Drafting site. However, we will be rolling out some new "live" Mock drafting software (in the near future), which should be fun. It is currently under development.

Don't get me wrong man, I'm not proclaiming myself the NFL Draft "Expert" or nothing like that. I'm not some egotistical maniac that just rips everyone who doesn't agree with me. That is NOT what I am about. All I am doing is disagreeing with THIS particular mock. When I read it, I just see too many picks that don't make allot of sense to me (personally). I'm not "insulting" the people... I just REALLY disagree with them.

With the exception of a few picks... I agree MUCH more with this guys Mock (a fellow forum member) http://www.patsfans.com/new-england-patriots/messageboard/showthread.php?t=53096

I disagree with a lot of mock drafts myself, it is my opinion. I do agree that a lot of those "experts" don't know a whole lot. For example, there were some mocks having us take a TE (I think Olsen) at #24 and their reason was to replace Graham. Didn't they see that we signed Brady to replace him already? Another example, just today I read on nfl.com that they had one of those "experts" and in his mock New England took a center because as he explains: "With two first-round picks and a very aggressive offseason in the free-agency market, the Patriots can afford to take the highest-rated center and not worry about the position for a very long time". What I'm trying to say is that some of the stuff they have makes sense, others doesn't AT ALL. In any way, how many "experts" actually predicted at least 50% of the draft correctly? Personally, I see the draft as sort of a chess match, especially after the first few picks. Teams take their time, consider all options (including trades) and make a final decision. Depending who "falls" might trigger more trades since some teams might target certain guys who would fit in their system.

    My God! He said that?!?!

No wonder you think he is completely clueless. There have been no indications from anyone that Russell might be the first pick in the draft.

Seriously, there are always differences of opinion as to who will take whom, and not thinking the way you do doesn't make the guy clueless. He might even be right. One thing he has is the cajones to publish his first round opinions.

Make your own first round draft prediction now and post it. Then we will all see how smart you really are when you nail all 32 picks.

I don't care if he's clueless or not as long as we get Willis and Griffin.:rocker:

About 1/2 teh mocks have Willis going 11 or 12 and the other half have him going very close to our #24.
