Brandon Tate's future as a PATRIOT

He had Peyton Manning and Ryan Leaf neck and neck, you tell me?

Well, from the neck down there may have been similarities....but that's where it ended ;) :D

I'm not sure I'll ever be able to get over this fact;

Round 3 Pick 19 (83) Brandon Tate - WR North Carolina
Round 3 Pick 20 (84) Mike Wallace - Mississippi

What a stuff up. Easily a number 1 WR vs a 4/5 WR. Sigh.

Why? Wallace wasn't the first good player from the 3rd round and he won't be the last. He's no #1 receiver either.

Why would you blame that on Tate anyways? Why not complain about selecting Darius Butler over Mike Wallace?

Forgive me whilst I walk away from the computer bursting with laughter.

60 receptions 1,257 yards, 21.0YPC 10TD's in his sophomore season.

I don't blame Tate. I never blame a player for the position they're drafted in.

I didn't say he sucked but he ain't #1 material IMO. He is a good player but he isn't the first thing opposing defense's try to stop. That would be Rashard Mendenhall and the Pitt running game.

Andre Johnson
Fitzgerald
Reggie Wayne
Calvin Johnson
Roddy White
Wes Welker
Brandon Marshall
Greg Jennings

Those are number 1 wr's. But that wasn't the main point.

Now that you're done laughing wanna explain why you can't get over not grabbing the best player left in the draft every single pick?

Roethlisberger's ability to keep a play alive also helps out a lot.

Your explanation of what a #1 WR is simply is not what's required of a #1 WR.

I'll bet he started laughing again at the thought of those guys being #1 WRs and Mendenhall being the Squealers No 1 offensive threat.

Anyway, what does a RB have to do with what makes a guy a No 1 receiver or not?

I'm still laughing.. believe you me.

Andre Johnson 79 receptions 1,142 yards 14.5YPC 6TD
Larry Fitzgerald 103 receptions 1,409 yards 13.7YPC yards 10TD
Reggie Wayne 49 receptions 716 yards 14.6YPC 4TD
Calvin Johnson 78 receptions 1,331 yards 17.1YPC 12TD
Roddy White 30 receptions 506 yards 16.9YPC 0TD
Wes Welker no games
Brandon Marshall 120 receptions 1,325 yards 13.0YPC 7TD
Greg Jennings 53 receptions 920 yards 17.4YPC 12TD

Feel free to tell me why Mike Wallace doesn't have what it takes to be a number receiver given his statistics compared to all your named receivers in their sophomore seasons.

Mike Wallace????? Isn't he like 950 years old????

Welker does not belong on this list. He's a great complement but he's not a true #1.

I see your point but you can definately make a case for him....his production ever since becoming a Patriot matches up with quite a few #1 receivers i'm guessing.

And even though he doesn't haul in TD's like #1 receivers he still plays a big role in keeping this offense going.

I'll bite, what is the criteria for a #1 WR?

Let's look to the words I was referring to:

I didn't say he sucked but he ain't #1 material IMO. He is a good player but he isn't the first thing opposing defense's try to stop.

Now, was Lynn Swann not a number 1? How about Michael Irvin?

Wallace is definately a #1 and his speed is a nightmare for defenses. Taking away the deep ball is something that is always on the minds of opposing DCs.

You could argue that he was just a deep threat last year but he improved alot in his 2nd year.

The fact that the Steelers were confident enough in him to ship away their SB MVP speaks volumes of his abilities and what they see in him.

I wrote "he ain't #1 material".

Ain't = is not = present tense. Never said he couldn't improve to become a number 1. Last year he was not as good as the players I listed who I feel are true number 1 receivers.
