Doesn't say he believes they're innocent...

Innocent of what?

They haven't been accused of anything.

Seriously the statements on this thread are just as idiotic as threads on PFT and ESPN.

Acknowledge the investigation, say you'll co-operate and move on. This counters the "silence means your guilty" concept.

Way too many of you are looking for validation from idiots like Florio and ESPN.

They've been accused of deflating balls.

Yes but the nfl is also not mentioned 'deflation' or accused them of anything. Seems like a lawyer statement.
And if it was a statement from his lawyer to the NFL that would make sense. It was not, it was a statement to the public.

They've been accused of deflating balls.

They have not. Under inflated is from a standard while deflated is from a measured point. NFL used the words under inflated for a reason. They are looking into how under inflated balls were in play. Big difference. If the reffs had measured the PSI of the balls before and then saw they had declined then they would have used the word deflated which they did not.

The balls were under inflated from the standard of 13.5-12.5. NFL did not say they were deflated since measured pregame.

I find it funny that some are falling into the trap of blaming the owner/franchise. Constant media scrutiny gets to you...doesn't it? This situation is the simple result of the wholesale destruction of the NFL. It's being crushed by it's own weight.

The NFL used to truly be a league. Every team operated in the best interests of the league. Justice for infractions was kept internal. The sanctity and integrity was maintained by it's members.

Now, we don't have a league. We have 32 Kingdoms...within each team we have numerous egos...from coaches to GMs to players. Every man for himself. We have the clueless Irsays, Browns, Johnson's and Davis's as owners to name a few. These guys are part of the fabric of the NFL.

Then we have the modern....24 hour a day...life-sucking media. They are parasites. Their existence is completely dependent on the existence and actions of others. They provide nothing but exist in a cocoon that allows them to profess righteousness without allowing themselves to be scrutinized under a similar microscope.

Unfortunately, the league relies on these parasites to expand the reach of it's game, It has sold it's soul to these people. Sadly these are the same folks that will kill it in the end.

This is a pretty damn good post. Very well said sir!

Are you blind, deaf or dumb? For five days the Pats and especially BB and Brady have been subject to an unabated witch hunt by the POS commissioner and his mediots in which they have been accused of lying. The least one could expect the employer could say about his most valuable employees is that he has confidence that they are telling the truth. He had no such reservations about supporting the POS when everyone knew he was lying about seeing the tape. This speaks volumes about what type of man the owner of the Pats is without his late wife providing with moral rectitude in addition to the resources to buy the team. He is now just an empty suit satisfied to hang around with rich people who hate his success and chase grand daughter aged bimbos. How pathetic a sight that is.

They have been accused from the press. This is a statement for the press, not the NFL. And frankly, splitting the hairs on what the NFL is accusing them of is nothing more than sophistry. If the NFL thought it was weather or anything else they wouldn't have even began an investigation. But it's irrelevant, because it's a press release, and is intended for public consumption.

If he or anyone else thought lawyer speak was PR speak they are stupid.

I was hoping he would say something to that effect.
Agreed, I would have really liked him professing innocence, but then again it Kraft the businessman...share as little info as possible. I mean his statement literally said nothing....But guess what? It's one of the top stories on BSPN!!!

Patriots are in an absolutely no win situation. They need the NFL out of their colon 1st and the press never cares if they get it wrong so even if (when) they are proven wrong, don't expect an apology but instead they will say this is the price to be paid for spygate. This is the best way to those two goals, get the NFL and press to go away. The players and team is handled in ways we will never seen and the best we fans get is a great team which any other fan base would kill for. There is no perfect answer for everyone. As far as splitting hairs, this sort of thing ends up being very important.

They've been accused of deflating balls.

No

The league is investigating why some balls were under inflated....i.e. they are trying to weasel out of explaining why balls that were always in their possession weren't tested according to league rules.

If they came out and said that, the fire storm would be the league always cheats for the Patriots.

Here's what will happen

League concludes investigation.

They will say they have zero evidence.

They will initiate procedures for greater transparency, testing, and monitoring.

The Colts knew this all along that the Pats submit at minimum and that the officials never check the balls.

They complain, the balls are under inflated and they know the league can never say they screwed up after they start the poopstorm.

This is the only way any sense of parity will be restored to the AFC is for Belichick to be gone.

Why the concept that the balls were always in the league's possession from Friday through the game can't be comprehended is simply astounding.

One more time.
Too early for Kraft to go on the defensive to the NFL with his team.
If he waits until the league shows its hand with their evidence if any, he should then critique it, if he can.
I hated the "integrity of the game" platitudinous BS.
I would have liked him to say something critical about the media frenzy fueled by rumor and agenda but I never was a PC corporate puke.

Uhhh no dumbazz. If you would stop watching ESPN and with the PFT , you might see something.

The league was in Foxboro 3 days and hasn't concluded anything mainly because they are at fault.

This is all media driven nonsense as the league tries to figure out what to do

Acting defensive only feeds the frenzy.

I am the Patsfan dumbazz, not him.

Why?

The first thing people think is that professing party is guilty.

I agree he shouldn't have gone on the defensive, and certainly not the offensive, but I don't think him saying he has confidence in BB and Tom would have ruffled anyone from the league or outside the fanbase, and it's not like anyone would hold him accountable for having confidence in them if it turned out they were lying.

Meanwhile, a show of confidence would mean a lot IMO to the team and to a nervous, galvanized fanbase.

He can do a lot, and frankly when faced with an obvious witch hunt the tactic to wait for the people of Salem to have a trial is not the right tactic IMO.

When they hold B&Bs heads under the water and they drown, Krafty can tell Goody, "see, I thought they might be innocent."

what he has done effectively here has let tfb and bb make full statements denying cheating. Very public statements.

He's done **** all to back them up.

shame on him

Mr. Dumbazz, maybe in Cleveland, they only have ESPN on TV and PFT on the internet, Everywhere else in the English speaking world, every new station, newspaper and internet site, there was been a finding that the Pats are proven guilty and they just have to find out how they did it. This has been encouraged by leaks from the NFL itself and people who have been recipient of leaks from the commissioner himself. If you think that the commissioner with the backbone of tissue paper is not going to respond to the media frenzy regardless of the facts, you must have been living either under a rock or in Cleveland since the cameragate incident which was created by the commissioner and his friends in the media. We all know how the supine posture of Kraft worked then.

So if a witch says they're not a witch then... They must be a witch! Innocent people proclaim they're innocence all the time, and they're not all seen as guilty.

He has been accused by the public, and this is a statement to the public, not the NFL.

The idea you shouldn't say you're innocent during an investigation is silly. The investigation means the NFL, or police, or whoever have reasonable suspicion you have done something, and they are trying to ascertain if you did it or not. To say you did not do it, if you didn't isn't just reasonable, it's exactly the purpose of the investigation.

So yes, Kraft made a business savvy decision to let his guys handle the pressure because he doesn't want to sully his name if it blows up. There's a reason we don't respect people in this culture or any other though that methodically count the pros and cons before backing their friends up. It's seen as self serving. That's just not something people respect.
