All the talk about the New England Patriots defensive line quickly moved past Mark Anderson after the team signed Shaun Ellis and Andre Carter to the point that he was left off most 53-man roster predictions prior to Thursday’s game, mine included.
But in another example of Bill Belichick always being the smartest man in the room, Anderson looked like a beast coming off the edge in the team’s third down package Thursday against Jacksonville and consistently caused havoc for quarterback Blaine Gabbert.
Most were perplexed when the team unceremoniously dumped their best pass rusher Tully Banta-Cain prior to camp, but it looks like Anderson could be a key component in getting after the quarterback in 2011.
Anderson appears to be a sub package guy, not sure I would calssify More that way. Anderson may be competing with A Carter for a job?

The battle at DE will be epic. I wouldn't count Moore out just yet as I think he has value against the run as well.
The only issue I have against Mark Anderson is that his name sounds like that of a tax consultant. But 12 sacks in his rookie year is nothing to sneeze at. even if it was in 2006.
Anderson had a good first preseason game against a weak offense. I want to see more of the same through the 3rd preseason game before I'm convinced of his role on the team. I glad he displayed the skills for which he's been known so well in Thursday's game. I just want to see him do this with the Pats' number 1 defense against the better offenses. He could be even more effective running his scheme with the Pats starters. This is one of the more interesting elements of the new personnel during this preseason.
