Said there was no doubt in his mind that unless something beyond the realm of possibility happens he has every intention of having Brown in a Patriots uniform this season.

Just heard it from a Patriots all Access clip that is going to be aired before the draft.

Interesting. Did he say as a receiver?

Hopefully, there will be a spot for #80 on the Pats in one aspect or another for as long as he wants it.

No. You can watch it now i believe on the patriots.com website someone just told me theres a small clip of it in the beginning when you click to watch the Tony Hunt picture.

BTW i think its more and more likely that we see Brown used as a Defensive player more than a receiver this year.

It is possible but I doubt it would be planed that way. when we ring him back it is to be the leader of that recieving group which other than him has not been here very long, he will be the fourth reciever easy and unless hell breaks lose he will not be a DB.

On the day when I wrote and mailed a big check to the IRS, that's the only good news I've had.

WRs are a breed apart. They may need a locker room guy who is specifically a RECEIVER to help hold their egos together.

Plus Brown is, as we know, super-versatile, and hence more valuable than some guys who might out-perform him just at a single position.

I really find it tough to imagine they'd give #80 to someone else next season even if Troy didn't make the team.

Is this a new report or just a repeat of what Belichick said a few weeks ago, that he expects Troy will be back with the Patriots?

troy plays offense, defense, and special teams. he could be the ST captain instead of izzo. in every case, his footwork is brilliant. he's not a two-fer, he's a 3-fer.

the feet make up for his speed. he probably runs 4.7-4.8 now, but he plays faster, like 4.5. he's probably never run a 4.5 in his life.
thus,BB/SP don't have to carry 2 players to cover WR, DB, and ST. they've got troy. he's also an emergency QB, P, and PK. all totaled, he's got to be saving BB/SP two roster slots.
IMHO he plays for NE as long as he wants. besides, he plays at the veteran minimum.
parcells saw something in troy brown, and kept him around for 3 years. IMHO bam phillips, from ohio state, ohio's 'mr football' in 2000, is the next troy brown. BB/SP have kept him on the practice squad as an undrafted FA
for 2 years. he's 5-10, 185, plays WR, DB, and special teams. watch out for bam phillips.

when ya bash parcells, remember troy brown.

in the end, i look forward to seeing #80 raised up.

I can't understand why people wait so long. I finished doing my taxes more than a year ago.

I watched the interview and BB was asked by Steve DeOssie, "Have you done everything now you plan to do in terms of receiver by acquiring Welker and Stallworth?" and that's when BB answered no, that barring any unusual circumstances (of which he didn't expect any) he expected Troy Brown to be on the team next year.

He also said Junior Seau was someone they had kept in touch with, and was on the team' s radar screen, but nothing had been finalized with him.

He also said the loss to the Colts was not really a loss you could get over. Hope that translates into a pummelling of Peytie Pie on Nov. 4th.

Happy Patriots Day to all!!
