2023 class:McVay has drafted a lot of duds. Looking at his drafts since 2017, it’s pretty bad. All he’s got is Cupp, Nacua and two decent DL who are no longer on the team. The roster he inherited is deteriorating.
And they had no business making the playoffs this season. If the 9ers had something to play for, they would've taken them out.
2nd round G/C Steve Avila played every single snap and by most accounts played well.
3rd round LB Byron Young 16 game starter, 8 sacks, 2 FF, 1 FR, 61 tackles, 8 TFL, and 19 QB hits
3rd round DT Kobe Turner played in every game, started 4. 9 sacks, 57 tackles, 8 TFL, and 16 QB hits
5th round Puka Nacua 105 catches, 1486 yards, 6 TDs
They also took a punter in the 7th who was an NFC special teams player of the week at some point who I only mention because some on here liked to try and prop up Jake Bailey as an argument for that 2019 class not being a total failure.
2022 class:
5th round RB Kyren Williams 1350 all purpose yards 5 ypc, 15 total TDs and a pro bowl selection.
7th round DB Russ Yeast became a starter this year and has apparently played well.
They also picked a couple of corners who started a decent amount of games with mixed results.
2021 class:
2nd round pick WR Tutu Atwell solid third receiver for them 39 catches for 483 yards and 3 TDs
3rd round pick Ernest Jones 15 game starter, 145 tackles, 4.5 sacks, 14 TFL, and 6 QB hits.
The drafts prior to that were pretty bad but 2023 looks like a home run and 2021 and 2022 produced a few solid to good players. If they can squeeze another year of decent production out of Stafford and find the next guy they have a solid young nucleus.
