My problem with Bedard's view (who I think is one of the best writers in town) is he states the offense is trying to evolve.. Which I have NO problem with.. Welker covers the same area as the TE's (even though he is healthy).. My problem is they paid basically the same amt of money for Danny..
Just smells like something more than "evolving the offense"
I have seen very little of Amendola, but I recall the play he got hurt on being a nice 40 or 50 yard bomb where he went up and got the ball. He is both taller than Wes, and looks to have significantly longer arms, so he may able to run more intermediate-deep routes and also be able to play outside more than Wes could.
As far as the money....they gamble a bit. They say, if we are right and Danny is very good, we get him for 5 years at $6M. If we are wrong, we can cut our losses at basically 2/10M. With Wes, even the upside was only 2 years.
