There has been speculation in some quarters that McDaniels is a candidate to succeed BB if and when BB decides to hang it up, a kind of HC in waiting.

In the interest of full disclosure, I have been a persistent critic of McDaniels. I believe he has been outcoached consistently in big games since he became O-coordinator (12 men on field to start potential game winning drive in 4th q vs. Colts in AFCCG in 2006, vs Giants both times, etc.). We also seem to get worse offensively in the 2nd halves of playoff games.

Did anyone else watch the BB miked up segment vs the Steelers and find McDaniels' comments about the Red Sox being "small" to be immature? Why is it so interesting and relevant that baseball players are "small" compared to football players? They are clutch players who are champions, who played with heart and guts and came through when it mattered most. It seemed strange to me that McDaniels found Victorino's stature to be so noteworthy, enough to mock him to BB, especially since McDaniels is a small man himself.

I'm not sure McDaniels has the right personality to be HC of the NEP.

He wasn't "mocking" them or making fun of them in any way. He was just surprised how small they are. So was BB, so was Brady. Some of them are twerps, especially compared to football players. They still respected their accomplishment. No big deal. (I thought it was funny myself.)

Not to nitpick, but a twerp is someone who is insignificant or contemptible. Not sure any of the Red Sox fall into either of those categories. And I agree - I don't think there was any disrespect intended at all by any of the Patriots.

Actually in baseball, isn't it advantageous to be small(er)? I don't follow baseball so I could be way off base. But I would think that being smaller gives you a smaller strike zone. Just curious.

As others have said, I didn't think they were being disrespectful, but more just surprised because on TV they look huge.

Now that the bully-gate, hazing, hate-crime of the century story has jumped the shark.........this would make a great headline for ESPN and its media ilk to beat into the ground.

I realize we live in hyper-sensitive times where everything is offensive to someone, but crissakes:confused:

His opinion of baseball players aside I am not sure if McDaniels is the right head coach for the Patriots based on his 11-17 .393 head coaching record. McDaniels has some issues with his ego but he is just 37 years old so maybe more time with Bill will help him mature out of that. I think the son is going to be the heir apparent anyway.

You are nitpicking. I've never used, heard nor read the word employed with that meaning. Just in relation to a small(er) person, and usually with affection.

I hear you I for one am still trying to figure out the emotional impact that Peyton Manning throwing 51 touchdown passes will have on me… I really wish we could all just get a long :grouphug:

I think you are hypersensitive. I am a dedicated fan making an observation about the team's OC. As pat fans, are we required to believe that everyone in the Pats chain of command craps sunshine? I think it is legit to note that the heir apparent to the throne of our beloved team may be a twerp.

Honestly I don’t even like McDaniels but I am having a hard time finding fault in what he said here.

I haven't taken a stool sample from McDaniels, but I am pretty sure he craps like the rest of us. Sometime a corn nugget, but mostly the standard brown fecal matter, I suspect.

McDaniels may be a twerp. McDaniels may not be the ideal coach-in-waiting. McDaniels may be a below average OC. I wouldn't neccesarily argue with any of these contentions. On this matter, believe me, I am not remotely sensitive--much less hypersensitive.

McDaniels being surprised at how small the baseball players are (as compared to the monsters that are football players, I presume), is a pretty benign observation.

Finding offense in the observation is hypersensitive. Using the observation to negate McDaniels' qualifications as a coach is manufactured sensationalism worthy of ESPN.

So let's dispense with "crap sunshine" pom-pom stuff. It's a lazy argument.

I never knocked your opinion that McDaniels is the ideal coach-in-waiting. Your evidence in this case was just sh1tty. And THAT is what I rightfully knocked.

I think McDaniels is a dbag and don't particularly want him to succeed BB.

However, none of that is based on him meeting Dustin Pedroia and observing that he is about the size of your average sixth grader.
