...and the draft projections start; DE Watt or Kerrigan at #17

Re: ...and the draft projections start

Kerrigan has a huge motor and would be a great 4-3 DE. I still have a hard time going so high on a 3-4 OLB coversion project though. He does have near-capable size for BB's OLB profie: 6'4", 263, if those measurements hold up.

I'd prefer a 3-4 DE with pass rush skills over a 3-4 OLB for situational use, unless he could be a rare 3-down OLB. He also seems less a pass-rush specialist and more aset-the-edge guy who stuffs the run, and if that analysis holds up it doesn't address the pass rush needs.
According to NFL Draft Scout:

Kerrigan - 18
Beal - 49
Acho - 95

Re: ...and the draft projections start

Von Miller has absolutely no chance in this scheme.

Aldon Smith is my #1 realistic target, followed by Beal and Kerrigan.

Re: ...and the draft projections start

The Pats have their #2. His name is Danny Woodhead. Assuming Benny and Danny stay healthy, there's no need for another RB. The only true need is in case one of them gets hurt, and for the garbage time carries that the Pats don't want the top guys getting.

Woodhead is a 3rd down RB. Pats don't really have a big play RB who can take it to the house on any touch and make the defense stack the box. That type of RB can open things up for the passing game so long as you use him. BJGE is solid of course and he's the starter going into next year. But he's not a gamebreaker type of back. Would I rather have a Mendallhall or Peterson? Of course. That's no disrespect to him. There's just more dangeorus backs out there.

I don't necessarily see us taking a RB in the 1st round like these projections. I believe that passrush DE or OLB or more important. But it really depends on how the draft falls. If RB is the best value available at #28 and a franchise RB is there I'd have to consider it. Trading down is also an option to pick up extra value. I'd prefer to address RB in the 3rd round or later but you never know with BB.

He reminds me of JPP and thats a good thing. Another guy is Dontay Moch whos 6-1 245 and supposedly ran a 4.27

Woodhead had 90 1st and 2nd down carry runs last season in 14 games. His main role on the team is as a third down back, but he's also the backup to Benny when he takes 1st and 2nd down plays off. If it were Sammy Morris, for example, giving Benny a breather, then I'd support a high round RB. But as long as Benny and Woodhead stay healthy, a high round rookie gives the Patriots the best 3rd string RB in the league while not upgrading the #2 RB a whole lot, and that's pretty irrelevant compared to an upgrade on defense.

He weighed in at 229 earlier this week. That's SS size.

I;m onboard with this assessment.....

I like Smith and Kerrigan a lot........

Unlike many other I wouldn't be upset with Ingram or Leshore at 28 or 33

Re: ...and the draft projections start

not saying I agree with it but look at what the cowboys did with Marion Barber on the roster, look at what the Panthers did with DeAngelo Williams on the roster. Maybe a nice 1-2 tandem like BJGE and Mark Ingram wouldn't be bad. Especially if Ingram somehow falls to 28.

What exactly have the Cowboys and Panthers done with those guys on their rosters?
