Do we take an RB in the 1st rd.
    I don't think so.

What's with the first round runningback crap? Mcshay has us with Ingram at #28 and Kiper has Leshoure at #28.

The pats runninggame was ranked #9th in the NFL with their first 1,000 yard rusher in 6 years. I don't get what the "experts" are seeing?

Especially the last few years should prove a first round runningback isn't needed on any team (unless the guy is a generational player) with the success of late round/UDFA backs.

OLB, DE, G, LT, WR are all above RB.

    You're late to the bandwagon.

Projections for 2011 draft picks started around April 25 of last year. :)

Look at the amount of RB's that we have that are due to be FAs.

Re: ...and the draft projections start

I'd rather have Mike Pouncey with the 28th overall pick since the Patriots need to start retooling the offensive line with young talent, especially since there is a huge void at right offensive guard.

Stephen Neal 34 years of age (retirement?)
Matt Light 32 years of age (unrestricted free agent)
Nick Kaczur 31 years of age
Dan Koppen 30 years of age

New England Patriots Roster at NFL.com

In the meantime, Logan Mankins will be an unrestricted free agent after the conclusion of the 2010 NFL season.

Backup RB and double backup RB aren't 1st round needs. They are like 5th round or UDFA. :D

Much rather grab a Delone Carter in the late 3rd than one of these backs in the late first. Benny averaged 4.4 YPC last season. We need a backup, not a new starter.

RB should be a position addressed elsewhere. In the first round, I want DE and RG.

None of these clowns understand the major holes in the Patriots roster, especially along the offensive and defensive lines (moreso if you consider the 3-4 outside linebacker position an extension of the defensive line). I thought football games were won in the trenches?

not saying I agree with it but look at what the cowboys did with Marion Barber on the roster, look at what the Panthers did with DeAngelo Williams on the roster. Maybe a nice 1-2 tandem like BJGE and Mark Ingram wouldn't be bad. Especially if Ingram somehow falls to 28.

Re: ...and the draft projections start

The Pats have their #2. His name is Danny Woodhead. Assuming Benny and Danny stay healthy, there's no need for another RB. The only true need is in case one of them gets hurt, and for the garbage time carries that the Pats don't want the top guys getting.

How about a running back in the 4th, 5th, or 6th rounds?

Re: ...and the draft projections start

If BB thinks Ingram is a runningback that doesn't come around often (I don't think he is, my opinion) and he falls to #28, I'd somewhat understand. We better run the ball more in 2011 if that happened though.

Marion Barber was a fourth round draft pick. The New England Patriots have far greater priorities along the offensive and defensive lines.

Look around the NFL teams rosters, plenty of undrafted free agent running backs who produce at a high level.

Re: ...and the draft projections start

I think too many draft experts think a RB, WR or any of the skill position players lead to instant success.

Meanwhile, Arian Foster led the NFL in rushing yards this season, an undrafted free agent.

Ryan Kerrigan could possibly be a great fit for the New England Patriots. However, if for some reason Marcel Dareus from Alabama fell to number seventeen (#17) .........

Re: ...and the draft projections start

I was pointing out the fact that they drafted Jones with Barber on the roster coming off a pro bowl seasons iirc. RB isn't a top 3 priortey IMO but if all those guys leave and a prospect like Ingram slips to 28 BB is picking him or trading the pick if their isn't a DE, OG, OLB, or WR that they grade that high. Im just saying its not as dumb of a pick as people think it is actually I think its the type of move that BB would make if the circumstance were right. How many people would have been flipping out if they saw a Corner slotted as our pick last year?
