Chevis Jackson is more athletic than people realize. His agility is good, he has an above average vertical. Only his straight line 40 isn't elite, and tracking past drafts suggest that the 40 isn't a reliable forecaster of NFL success for cb prospects. Just eyeballing it I'm liking Chevis even more than before, especially considering his football IQ and leadership ability.
Holy smokes, those numbers for Goff are tremendous! The quickness numbers in particular would put him in elite company as a safety, let alone as a 245-lb run-stuffing ILB. For a guy with his intelligence and intangibles...wow.
What's the value of the broad jump vs the vertical? IMO the vertical seems like a more reliable indicator of true lower body explosion. I honestly don't pay much attention to the broad jump, as it seems more random, often a function of leg length more than power.

I'm liking Patrick Lee more and more to play corner for this team. If he's there at #69 I'm on board.
Boy does this year ever feel different from 2007, when Darrelle Revis was the only CB I really liked. Good time to be in the market for a corner.
I'm going to go out on a limb and say it's by design. If this CB talent was in the draft last year, I doubt Belichick would have bent on Asante....We may have franchised Graham instead.
I was just looking at that. Did you see Jon Goff's 10 split? 1.53. That's the same 10 split Patrick Willis and David Harris posted last year....
Here's where Goff's combine numbers rank compared to all other ILB's who've performed there from 2000-2008 (very large sample size):
10 yards: 1.53 - 3rd (tied with Willis and Harris)
20 yards: 2.64 - 6th
40 yards: 4.63 - 15th
Three Cone: 6.86 - 8th
Short Shuttle: 4.26 - outside the top 25, but faster than both Willis and Harris
Bench: 28 reps - 11th
Broad Jump: 9'10" - 14th

Pretty solid film clip here against top competition. He seems to have a great motor, good burst, takes good angles, special teams............
I just wish we had drafted Harris last year,he would have been a perfect fit. I think Meriweather will turn out to be a very good DB. Then we wouldn't have to be comparing a LB this year to Harrises stats. from last year.
