It's easy, and only takes a few moments. One year ago, opening Monday night matchup between Miami and New England, Patriots Pro Bowl G Logan Mankins tore his right ACL. Not only did Mankins finish the Monday night game, he finished the season, becoming one of the rare, if not the only, player ever to have played an entire 16-game season with a torn ACL.
Insane.
That is just mind boggling how someone can do that and still be an all-pro.
Well, I think he was a pro bowler on reputation rather than actual play last year.
Wasn't he a first team all-pro as well?
I just remember a few false starts last season from him and not too many horrible whiffs.
media garbage said:The Patriots never reported the injury on their weekly injury reports. Mankins never seemed to be at risk of missing games, but, per Schefter’s report, they knew the injury was severe.
I completely believe this. I couldn't believe I saw Mike Devito dominating Mankins in the first Jets game last year and this explains why.
If the Shefter report is true they shouldn't have reported it, to hell with the NFL's rules, there's no need to tell teams he has a knee issue and have them going at the knee in that condition. It didn't take long for the people at PFT to spin this as a way that the Patriots circumvented injury reporting rules.
