Aaron Hernandez on crutches after hip surgery

Thing is, he sort of dropped off the map after that foot-dragging touchdown celebration. I'll bet that's where he injured it. Hip injuries to football players can be career-ending, and the fact he had surgery on it is disturbing to say the least. We need to watch this one closely.

Yes, it needs to be watched closely, but, OTOH, the fact that he didn't end up on IR, and the fact that he was actually there smiling and talking to students suggests that he'll be OK.

How does one come back at more than 100%?

we have the technology...

Tom Curran points out that the surgery Hernandez had was similar to what Bruins' goalie Tim Thomas had done. Thomas' recovery time was expected to be three or four months and he has shown no ill effects at all this season; if anything he's been better than ever. The one downside is that this means that both rookie tight ends have already undergone significant medical procedures.

I find it hard to believe that the Pats would have traded up for GRONK if he had that big a red flag medically.

LOL, this is great:
"Specialists have more free time on their hands," Del Rio explained.

And -- what is it? -- seven years on this guy is still the head coach when Shanahan, Fox, Gruden, Holmgren have all lost theirs. Strange stuff.

I am sure they did their due dillegence as far as the medical but they traded up for a player who had dropped due to the medical. Risk reward became worth it.

This. Gronkowski was the most complete TE coming out of college. He wouldve gotten a 1st round grade if not for the back injury.
