And says they may or may not make the playoffs, this during the over/under segment on PTI.

I know you all value his opinions so thought I'd share.

This dude also predicted that the Lakers would beat the Celtics handily in the NBA finals. So why are we listening to him?

Dude changed his tune real quick once the Celtics got up 3-1, but at that point, everybody who had said NAY to the Celts finally saw the light.

It just goes to show, you've gotta believe, not those mediots, but what you see with your own eyes on a daily basis. I saw a 16-0 team last year that completely dominated nearly every facet of the game. Then in the draft that team addressed its only real glaring flaw, lack of speed in the linebackers/the middle of the field. Predicting anything less than 12 wins for this team is an insult. 14 wins is a reasonable expectation imo.

I think he's still predicting the Pistons will beat the Celtics.

Not sure about that, but I'll probably end up picking the Saints and Pats in the Super Bowl again like lastyear, but I have to sit down and look at everything before making my picks.

I still feel the Saints have the best talent in the NFC. Also, Sedrick Ellis is my preseason favorite for Defensive Rookie of the Year

Watch him be right.

I hope he isn't...:p

No way the pats go 9-7.. I expect 13-3 and a trip to Tampa to take back what belongs to us!

i do not watch the show or know anything about this guy so i cant say if he has an agenda or not, but my guess is that the prediction will be wrong.

of course it could be that he is saying that to get people talking about the show, often sports media will make a silly prediction for attention. sometimes magazines will make off the wall picks to sell more copies

You mean the guy who plays a reporter on ESPN hates the Patriots?:)

It's possible, but the only way I see that happening is if there are a number of key injuries. Brady going down makes this a 9-7 to 11-5 team IMO and a combo say of Brady and Moss (who does have in injury history, unlike Tom) would put this team at 8-8 or worse. Otherwise, it would take a combo of 3-4 injuries to guys like Wilfork, Seymour, Warren, Light, Mankins, Welker, Watson, Maroney. Possible, but not likely.

If the Pats have a normal injury season, I put them at 12-4 or 13-3 this season. I don't see them blowing folks out as much as last year--seems like late in the year folks caught on to them and played them a lot tougher somehow, which I expect to continue this year. That said, 14-2 or 15-1 wouldn't be a total surprise with a little luck......

Of course there are always injuries...but did he mention any?? Nahhhh...that would be unlike him..NO..they are going that way WITH the usual injuries...I mean your picks are fine..I mean..realistic given last year and the changes..

He did jump on the bandwagon along with a hundred other ANALysts when he heard someone say 'defense wins championships', as if defense was something brand new. I don't think Wilbon knows much about sports at all and would take what he says with a grain of salt.

Home Schedule = KC, MIA, DEN, STL, BUF, NYJ, PIT, ARZ

There is no way you can pick any losses out of that group. They could lose any of them, but the likelihood is that they go 8-0 at home.

Road Schedule = NYJ, SF, SD, IND, MIA, SEA, OAK, BUF

SF, MIA and OAK are close to gimme games. That puts them at 11 wins before you really have to put in any thought. Say they go 2-3 against the remaining 5 and you get 13-3...which is what a lot of folks are predicting.

Obviously nobody knows how the teams on the schedule will actual turn out, but rosters and schedule are the only pieces of information you can use when predicting records. If Wilbon can look at the above and pick out 6-7 losses, he is smoking some good stuff...and should stay away from Las Vegas.

this team is 11-5 at worst... and if there are inj to Brady or Moss, then Wilbon will look like a genius.. But the reality is, this is still a 14-2 /13-3 team

I agree....what a joke....then again it is ESPN....:bricks::bricks:

What schedule is he looking at????

or you know, 16-0

Tom Brady, Randy Moss, Wes Welker, Vince Wilfork, AD, Bill Belichick and the easiest schedule in the NFL...yep, i can see where he's coming from:confused:
