How Do You Feel As A Pats Fan?

Topic inspired me to search Super Bowl losers who won the very next year.

Only two, the '71 Cowboys and the perfect '72 Dolphins. We’d be in a pretty exclusive group.

FWIW-there's been several other factors why Super Bowl losers swoon the year after...

Bears - the GROSS-man factor. At least he played decently in '06. But, of course, by '07, everyone LONG figured him out.

Hawks - they were actually a bobbled exchange from center snap from advancing to the NFCCG against the Saints(FYI-even if Romo had made a clean handle on that FG try the round before, the Hawks still had a WORLD of time to drive for their winning FG).

Eagles - the TO saga, plus Reid's poor-clock management skills finally have been exposed many times since.

Panthers - their ENTIRE OL left for FA(any FO with a decent mind would LOCK UP this area...FIRST).

Raiders - Al Davis KNEW that '02 team was in its FINAL chance, and sold out the farm knowing this would be his own very last opportunity anyways.

Rams - they let their heart and soul of their entire D, London Fletcher, walk. Your MLB is THE QB of your D, what they did was a No-No-No-No.

Giants - 9/11 happened that year, which really made it a huge distraction for their city.

The Pats should be fine next year, IMHO-none of the other AFCE opponents are scary, and there are really only 3-4 other AFC contenders.

BTW-Philly going after Samuels is really a head-scratcher. He may be an elite corner, but DOESN'T fit well with Jim Johnson's schemes. Assuming they dump Lito, this is going to be a down-grade for them.

Add to that the fact that teams usually fall apart the year following a SB loss. They lose players, coaches and incentive.

This team may very well actually improve with decent drafting and they will be VERY hungry.

Certain team leaders will be looking for that ring with reckless abandon, IMHO. Moss, Welker, Seau (I hope) want their ring badly.

Brady gets year two with Moss & Welker, a healthy Chad Jackson (dying to prove his worth) and year 3 with Gaffney along with healthy tight ends - Thomas & Watson (expected to be ready). Running game improves with a confident Maroney & a healthy Morris.

Defense - a healthy Richard Seymour means more than anything at this point. Year two improvement of AD & Meriweather should help to make up for the only real or significant player losses -- Colvin & Samuel.

Draft - fill some holes and improve the "D".

All of the above along with an easier schedule, indicate to me they will be even better in 2008.

bring it on!!!just as ancious as last year, maybe more so :singing::singing:

Pissed off. I don't think that will change until the Pats kick some ass in Superbowl 43.

I'm still angry at what happened in Arizona. Just felt like BB allowed it to happen. For me as a Pats fan, this is a very long offseason regardless if they get good FAs and a great draft.

Thank you for saying that I feel the same way. It worries me because I am a season ticket holder.

Jaded. A whole season of us against the world, ending the way it did, left me bitter as hell. I still love the Patriots and always will, but my God, I can't stand the way the NFL is governed and covered.

Im personally over the loss, the only time it bothers me is when I see the dumb SI Giants gear commercials then it reminds me of the game and itl bother me a lil bit. Right now Im just lookin forward to the draft im excited bout the chance we have to add a couple young studs to the D.

I think the best part will be watching the Pats continue their winning ways (not necessarily undefeated, but 14-2 type thing) and watching the Giants falter.

Cause ya know it's gonna happen...

Definitely anxious for the start of the '08 season. I like the free agency stuff and enjoy the draft coverage, but on-field action can't get here soon enough.

Regarding Walsh/Specter, I'd just like the issue to be resolved, to whatever end. The outcome isn't going to change the opinion of any non-Patriots fan. If there is some evidence, the reaction will be "I knew it." If there is no substance to the story, they'll claim it's part of a cover-up.

Still in morning.
This is the first time I have been on the site since the loss. I can't read about the pats much, I am still heart broken.
I hope to get better soon though :)

This 2008 team will be similiar to the 2007 team, on defense it will be different but as far as points go, they'll be on the board plentifull. I wouldn't be suprised if we loose a game or 2 but defenately this 2008 Lombardi trophy is ours!!!

Let's go get ******* 16-0 again and slam it down the NFC's throat.

That's how I feel.

Are you pumped up for this coming season, hoping the boys take out their revenge for SB loss on the rest of the league?

In fear of waiting for a ton of bricks to drop at some point with some BS Walsh revelation? Wondering when Spector will launch his next self motivated attack on Pats/SB?

This offseason is unchartered territory IIMO - just trying to get the pulse of my fellow Pats Fans.
Resigned to more of the factless crap the national media (ESPN) uses.

OK, maybe that is not fair. The "fact" is an unnamed source saying something might be happening as Walsh might have something so they can build conjecture and speculation upon a hypothetical of an unnamed source.

Oh, football, is that still being played between holier than thou outbreaks?:D

This whole Walsh/Spector thing is garbage, no doubt.

Why are we the ones who had to be caught? Anyone ever stop to think that if Mangina did it when he was a Patriot (hence pointing us out in week 1) that he probably does it as a Jet?

Not directed at this board, but at the media in general...******* NFL.

The same national media that has slammed the Pats over the spygate stuff will also pick the Pats to win the AFCE and be a true Super Bowl contender.

I'm excited for 2008. The offense is going to continue to put up big points and the defense should be OK.

It's going to be the 1st time in 16 years that I won't be spending my Sundays/Mondays in Foxboro so that is going to be odd.

The Patriots blew a chance to be immortal, the 2007 team was stacked and was simply better than the entire league. The 2008 team will be good but is now a leading contender not a dominant force.

All the "as spygate turns" BS bounces right off me, the Patriots are 3 time champions, deal with it.

I really, really, really want to see Brady get a least one more Superbowl.

People don't hate the Jets. Name a group of fans that did not get their dreams crushed by the Patriots. (Colts, Steelers, Chargers, Rams, Raiders, Panthers, Eagles, as opposed to the Jets who have pissed off nobody.)

I hate every other team in our division...that's just how it is for me.

Jets fans have an unhealthy obsession with all thing Patriot. They are like pre 2004 Red Sox fans who had an unhealthy obsession with the Yankees.

Believe it or not I think Bills fans hate the Pats more than Jets fans. At least the Jets have beaten the Pats a couple of times over the last 7 years. I think the Bills have beaten us once.

I despise the Dolphins above all else. They haven't done anything in years, I know, but I ever hate the word Dolphin. If I meet someone, and they are a Dolphin fan, they become my sworn enemy.

Maybe I take this football thing a little too seriously...but it's WAR, damnit!

Yeah, I pretty much want more of the same :)... except this time win the damn super bowl (regardless of how many regular season wins.)
