OT: Ryan Clady Traded to the Jests

Makes sense, Denver didn't want him anymore and the Jets needed a LT. Of course, they're going from a guy who didn't miss a snap in 10 years to a guy who's played in 18 of 48 possible games in the last 3 seasons.

Yeah, but you're thinking about the actual season... psh, it's all about winning the off-season trophy man!

He's healthy now, and when healthy, dude is a Pro Bowler.

Nice! I'll take it!

Not too shabby for Macc...

Clady's cap hit is 7.5M. So, they used up most, but not all of the 9M they freed up from Ferguson retiring. Leaves next to nothing to sign Fitzpatrick..

Clady's first year goes to $7.5M with incentives (Okung had $5M). Clady has 2-year max value of $20.5M. Was to make $19.5M with no guarantee

This depends entirely on how much he can play, and how well he has recovered. None of us can know that right now. A roll of the dice for the Jests. I'm sure their fans are trying to see the glass half full side of this. We'll see.

So this frees up cap space for the Donkeys to trade for Kaepernick?

Right, if they want to spend that much on Kaep.

This made a ton of sense for Denver (with the assumption NE is their main competition):
1. They free up cap to potentially go get the QB of their choice.
2. Even though they didn't want to spend 9.5mil on Clady, there's no denying he's very good when healthy. Why not give him to a team that can cause the Pats headaches?

I'm not saying the Jets are going to win the AFC East. (Mind you I'm also not, not saying that. ) But from Denver's perspective, may as well give their competition grief. Perhaps it could come into play for playoff seeding and home field advantage.

Not to overplay this, but again, it looks like the JESTS are staying true to form.

Super Bowl. Book it!

Super Bowl. Book it!

Funny you should say that.

Broncos Trade Ryan Clady to Jets

He also proved he can be durable when he played all 16 games six different times (every year of his career except 2013 and 2015) and could have some additional motivation to try to prove himself again after he was traded.

Even at 29, Clady should theoretically be fairly fresh heading into 2016 because he didn’t play in 2015. If he is the same dominant player he was before the ACL injury, Clady may get the opportunity to play in the Super Bowl after all as he sets the tone for a new offense.

yup...there you have it...NY Jets -September Super Bowl winner for the 47th consecutive season. It must be great to be a JTSE fan...I know we're all extremely jealous here in New England.

Yeah, it's a risk but definitely an understandable one. There aren't many ways to get a starter-caliber LTs in early April. My opinion on the deal will depend on what his reworked contract looks like, but I think paying him anything up to $5-6M or so is defensible even given his injury history.

A jester fan SB prediction, no need for anybody to check their calendar - it must be between March and April; . . . Regular, just like a clockwork.

Definitely hope so. Brick was a great Jet. The definition of reliable. But the guy was declining... quickly.

Think PFF (or one of those stat sites) had him ranked as the 60th tackle last year. Definitely not worth what he was getting paid.

I figured we'd be drafting a tackle early (may still be). This move though has me pretty darn happy. Wasn't expecting to get someone like Clady for 6mil.

The two (2013 n 2015) season-long injuries are worriesome. But other than those, he seems pretty reliable.

His career seems like a feast or famine situation. 2 years... out. The other six years, consistent All Pro level play week-in and week-out.

This COULD prove to be a very big signing. Similar to Marshall last year. It'd be tough for me to say which signing is better this off-season: Clady or Forte? (Leaning Clady at the moment.)

You're welcome. Figure the least I can do is offer up some typical "Jest" fan stuff for you guys occasionally.

Brick was declining, but Clady isn't? That's a pretty impressive set of rose colored glasses you've got there.
