I really can't see the team trading Jimmy g a year after taking him in the second

Probably not, meat, although it's been 2 years now, so he has 2 more left on his deal.

It's difficult to project what they think about our future QB situation due to Brady's situation, as well as how JG has been progressing in film study/recognition/practice, etc. What we do know is that we currently have a backup QB who actually knows the system, so I'd have to agree that it's a longshot to think that they're going to get rid of that for....anything, or at least most things, anyway. Since he's certainly not going to fetch a first rounder, there's probably not much that anyone will offer that would prove worthwhile from our side.

This brings up another interesting question: could the Patriots trade #29 to the Super Bowl winner? It would move them up a couple slots in the draft order and the Patriots would get a small token like a 5th or 6th rounder in response.

Interesting question. My guess is it depends on how the official sanction is worded. It may be a case where they've already had the 29th pick taken away, with the stipulation that it is re-instated if there is a higher pick to take later.

We don't have #29 to trade, so we can't do that.

Goodell screwed us.

Cleveland Browns draft needs are: WR - DE - MLB.

They are $35 million under the cap ...
Any chance we can pry that 2nd round pick from them with a package including Chandler Jones.

We could then land Spriggs who plays well in a zone blocking scheme by trading down a bit and gaining a pick.

Cleveland Browns draft needs are: QB, QB, QB

Fixed

Edit: Right after I posted the 'fix', PFT came out with this:

The ex-girlfriend of Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel told police that Manziel hit her and dragged her into a car during an altercation last weekend, WFAA in Dallas reported Thursday.

Citing sources with knowledge of the investigation, WFAA reported that Colleen Crowley has asked for an order of protection from Manziel. Crowley reportedly told police that she jumped out of a car to avoid Manziel, but he followed as she attempted to hide in some nearby bushes.

Report: Manziel’s ex-GF says he hit her, seeks protection order

So, to repeat Cleveland's needs:

QB
QB
QB

Here's a thought - Jimmy G to Cleveland for their second round pick plus Gordon should he be reinstated. The pick would very nearly be first round level.
You're on to something.

The Browns can grab Jared Goff in round 1 and keep Gordon ... why would they want Grop?

The problem with trading Garrapolo is that the Patriots would then be in need of a back-up QB. Is there any QB in the draft who would come close to fitting into the Pats system?

Because there may not be a single quality NFL QB in this draft.

Agree but they have to sell the fans on hope ... and Manziel is delusion to them.
I am not totally sold that Manziel is useless ... but he certainly does not want to be a Brown.

Grop is a backup and a potential heir to TFB, I don't see BB letting him go for anything less than big loot.

So was Cassel, then Hoyer, then Mallett...

I think they'll keep JAG because he appears to be the perfect back-up for the Patriots and I firmly believe the team would still be competitive with him at the helm. Naturally, nobody can replace Tom Brady but if required, filling in will do just nicely.

For real? Because Garoppolo with multiple years of NFL experience and coaching from the GOAT HC watching the GOAT QB is a safer bet than Jared Goff.

As far as I know Hoyer and Cassel are both FAs. If they could get one (Hoyer would be my guess) for $1m-2m or so a year for 1-2 years and draft a QB this year to groom, it could work.

I mean, ****, what's Tebow doing? At least he's got system experience.
