Boston Sports Media Watch on the Brady/Manning double-standard

Did anyone expect anything different. Not upset at all about this because I knew there would be a double standard. Expect that if another news organization comes out with more information on Manning that nails him for the conversation to change to "The guy was coming off four neck surgeries and he probably needed the HGH just to have a normal life again. He didn't use it to cheat, he used it just to not be in pain. Should he really be labeled a cheater since he used it for medical reasons and not performance reasons?"

He should be labeled as a lying, two-faced, sexual deviant, big-game choker.

I can't wait to read the story about how Kraft is asking the NFL to conduct a five million dollar investigation of the allegations, this time using a Boston-based law firm and a bunch of experts from MIT and Harvard.

I've never quite understood how they get all their info but they definitely have a way of digging it up and they don't seem to care what the nfl has to say or others...

According to TMZ, they were able to get the Ray Rice elevator surveillance video simply by calling the hotel and asking for it. goodell claims his multi-million dollar security department wasn't able to also do that. And I'm sure that everyone believes him;)

I'm feeling confident that this story is long from over. People are sniffing around which is evident by the various articles we have read recently. Couple that with the Hayward/Zimmerman lawsuits and I think there will be more details to come. It won't happen overnight but if there are more dots to connect someone will do it. It's too much of a career building story for some young journalist and too big of a story for some news outlet to pass up on.

Knowing that HGH was on Manning's doorstep during the time he was recovering from his neck injury and then comes back to set NFL records is most definitely not a non-story.

The media is only a bunch of fans with a mic in their hands. They choose sides and that's it.

The problem is the double standard by the NFL, shouldn't Ted Wells be working on a report by now?

They don't choose sides because they're "fans" they choose sides because the NFL tells them to. The NFL is powerful, they have their share in controlling the media, offering sources = exclusives = $$$$. That is how journalism lost its ethics and integrity. It's just gossip, propaganda and BS now.

They offer us distractions from REAL news stories, like what the world is going on in the middle east, is global warming real or just a sham for rich business men to get richer, what are we doing for border control, or other actual ISSUES that we need answers to. When they do bring up these issues, somehow another unarmed black kid gets shot in a big city or Brady is accused of something and we are suddenly distracted again.

Media has always been controlled by the elite, see the coverage during the World Wars. In the early part of the millennium, they realized that the republic were fascinated with celebrity. Why do you think sheep use social media, hoping to get famous or we're hearing about Brady's tomatoless diet, which is somehow more interesting than a handpicked, by the NFL and its press, GOAT shooting up HGH. It's not science, people!

For me, this story isn’t really about Manning. It’s about the coverage of the allegations and the blatant hypocrisy of many in the national media. Once again, they’re showing their true colors, this time by their silence.

This is why I have a problem with Manning.

Exactly. It took years for Balco to unravel.

Manning is in the "deny, deflect, distort" stage now.

We've got a long way to go before he gets to the contrite, tearful, "I know I let everybody down" speech stage. It could be a couple of years.

But here's what everyone has to understand: the idiots at HSPN, Sports Distorterated and the NFL Shill-work are not real journalists.

However, there are real journalists out there who will pursue this story, because there is probably a Pulitzer at the end of the Rainbow for whoever breaks it open.

And there are Prosecutors out there who will quietly open a criminal investigation because there is a high profile Prosecution at the end of the day that can make a career.

Brady was pilloried by the sports media establishment, but other than the occasional cheap headline, was mostly left untouched by the Main Stream Media...and even supported by them...remember Sally Jenkins.

Patience is the word.

Like I said before, when you fellate the media for as long as the Manning family has and you make cool commercials in the process, this is the benefit. Brady does nothing of the sort. All he does is win all the time. Can't have that in 21st Century America now, can we?

I think that's half of it. The other half is that the Belichick-era Pats actively freeze out the media, because they know the media's generally worthless. The downside is... this. They're a bunch of petty, vindictive blowhards, and they've made it clear repeatedly since 2007 that they're going to take every chance they can to try to smear everything about this team.

Once again, if we're to take the Mannings at their word, they have less to worry about with ESPN and Roger Goodell - and more to worry about from Child Protective Services, swooping in and questioning why a pregnant woman was receiving and presumably taking HGH during the most critical time of fetal development

Technically the Colorado Dept of Human Services has NO CHOICE but to launch an investigation

If they too are playing favorites than heads should roll

No Colorado department with prosecutorial powers is going to investigate Manning for anything, ever.
Does anyone really think that Donkeys ownership & Elway would allow that to happen?

It would have to be Florida. That's where it was shipped and they have a house.

You bring up a great point I didn't think of.

A) Ashley using HGH sent by Peyton's Dr while she was pregnant
B) Peyton using wife as front for HGH use

Which is worse?

the world would end if this was tb12

You are correct. As I sit here, I wonder if the Guerrero stuff that has been brought up recently was an effort to smoke out someone who would dish dirt on him and in turn TB. It seems odd that this AJ report was being pursued right around that timeframe. I bet the Boston Magazine ran that article that Tom had to defend to get that going. When no one came forward, Trollin wrote the recent article in another attempt to have a Sly type guy to come forward. The fact that none have means to me the fishing expedition came up empty.

I may be wrong but who knows.
