Game Thoughts: I am absolutely disgusted by the Pats tonight edition

I better see an angry and focused team at the texans. This team has literally lost that mental toughness. It would be nice to have gronk but i doubt he will play

Dumb statement. They didn't lose mental toughness. They lost a lot of talent due to injury. But most of those players will return soon.

Never went back to establishing the patient drive with their running game.

The rushing offense has been a problem all year, and if they don't get it established soon, it may bite us in the ass.

Hopefully trey williams will help next week a bit.

As frustrating as this was it no more more a must win than any other game. If we win out and Denver loses to Cin then we get HFA. This was in no way a must win for a bye since we still control out own destiny with SOV/SOS over Cin.

Are you sure this is true? Everyone said that CIN would have HFA should the teams have identical records. I'm assuming that SOV comes after the conference record, right? Not meaning to question you, but this is the first I'm hearing of this. I assume you've done the math, though.

Have you noticed that Brady seems to be forcing the ball to the WR when there is coverage?
In the past 5 games, Brady threw for 5 INTs.

1st 7 games: 1 INT.
People are not open like they were before.

Very disappointed with LaFell's play lately. I'm sure I'm not the first to point this out. He is not on the same page as Brady a lot of the time, and that is huge.

On the plays where he is, he's had a lot of drops and poor effort in my opinion.

Dude u play with what u have. The eagles
are an awful football team. I saw alot of mental mistakes on the field. Nothing's a guarantee anymore with this football team.

He clearly doesn't look like the guy from last year. It helps him though when he has edelman and gronk on the field.

Hes a great number 3. Turn him into a number 1 and hes bad.

the reason for the loss is simple. the eagles wanted it more. pats have not shown a lot of heart this season, not like last year at least. in the giants game, yes.

Yes, and "what they have" are a bunch of backups and practice squad players.

SoV is absolutely after conference record.

Here are the tiebreakers:
TO BREAK A TIE FOR THE WILD-CARD TEAM OR AMONG DIVISION WINNERS:
If it is necessary to break ties to determine the two Wild-Card clubs from each conference, the following steps will be taken.

  1. If the tied clubs are from the same division, apply division tie breaker.
  2. If the tied clubs are from different divisions, apply the following steps.
Two Clubs:

  1. Head-to-head, if applicable.
  2. Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the conference.
  3. Best won-lost-tied percentage in common games, minimum of four.
  4. Strength of victory.
  5. Strength of schedule.
  6. Best combined ranking among conference teams in points scored and points allowed.
  7. Best combined ranking among all teams in points scored and points allowed.
  8. Best net points in conference games.
  9. Best net points in all games.
  10. Best net touchdowns in all games.
  11. Coin toss.
Three or More Clubs:
(Note: If two clubs remain tied after one or more clubs are eliminated during any step, tie-breaker re-starts at Step One of two-club format. If three clubs remain tied after a fourth club is eliminated during any step, tie-breaker re-starts at Step One of three-club format.)

  1. Apply division tie breaker to eliminate all but the highest ranked club in each division prior to proceeding to step 2. The original seeding within a division upon application of the division tie breaker remains the same for all subsequent applications of the procedure that are necessary to identify the two Wild-Card participants.
  2. Head-to-head sweep. (Applicable only if one club has defeated each of the others or if one club has lost to each of the others.)
  3. Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the conference.
  4. Best won-lost-tied percentage in common games, minimum of four.
  5. Strength of victory.
  6. Strength of schedule.
  7. Best combined ranking among conference teams in points scored and points allowed.
  8. Best combined ranking among all teams in points scored and points allowed.
  9. Best net points in conference games.
  10. Best net points in all games.
  11. Best net touchdowns in all games.
  12. Coin toss

So, assuming that both NE and CIN go 14-2, they'll each have 1 AFC loss, correct? That is why we go to the next step, of course. Has anyone done the math to determine that we'd have the #1 seed for certain, that's my only question?

No major injuries for the first time in a month or more. That's huge. I will sleep ok.

He clearly doesn't look like the guy from last year. It helps him though when he has edelman and gronk on the field.

It's funny because I was a strong supporter going against the grain last offseason, as I liked his potential and stats in Carolina, but this year just seems so different with him. He is not on the same page at all, and that is costing us big time.

Correct. NE and CIN at 14-2 means they would each have 1 AFC loss.

Can't do math on SoV/SoS yet because you have to see how the teams that each team beat end up doing. SoV and SoS are completely out of your hands. Have to root for the all the teams you beat to win, except to the extent that their winning screws up any of your higher-ranked tiebreakers.

That's what I assumed, but the comment from @Bruins29 confused me a bit when he stated that we'd have HFA should Cincy beat Denver, that's all.

As noted, I'm not really meaning to question his feeling, just wondering how we can definitely come to this conclusion. As of last week, everyone that I saw commenting had it the other way around, stating that CIN would hold the tie breaker. Guess we'll have to wait and find out. The way this team in playing, it's hard to see them winning all 4 anyways, at least at the moment. I'd have to guess 3-1, but I hope not.

.

Well, i shoulf probably not say it actually. I was stating this a couple of weeks ago when the team was playing well and it looked as if we would be in good shape for SOV and SOS we would have to wait.

Now that the 2 has dropped two games I am not so sure as I was about SOV.

Time will tell but the Pats need to start like winning games.

Hey I had a cool down and figure 11-5 and 6th seed isn't all that bad, Jets get the division and lose first round, we get to finally play like Giants or such and win 3 on the road to the SB.

And yes Brady threw away his MVP trophy tonight twice, it is now defaulted, and in voter terminology that means Peyton Manning will win MVP, 9 gmes played? Who cares he is Peyton F'ing Manning, nothing wrong with that, his career is over and Brady will finally win as a true underdog, not like 01 but underdog in all 4 playoff games!

Lets make positives out of this disaster, let's put a smile on that face!

They have had a game or even 2 like this every year. So I am not so sure why it would be a surprise at this point considering the players who are not playing.
