Patriots claim (update: Cut) RB Trey Williams - (Flowers to IR)

He was on their practice squad, Cowboys knowing about the hype he created in Houston from High school signed him up on Nov 4th. Lewis went down on Nov 8th. I bet BB started to look for similar players like Lewis. Then out of no where, Jerry decided he needed space for an OL and released Williams!. Nobody else claimed him on waivers till it got to us. That fact that they put a waiver claim for him makes me feel good that they had scouted the guy and with what Lewis was able to do, they are opened to someone like him.
What makes me feel good is imagining Jerrah's "Oh sh!t!" moment when he found out the Pats had picked him up.

He had me at "devastating jump cut"
They gave James White a try and while serviceable he just isn't the kind of game-breaking, dynamic threat that they need.

At least Williams represents the threat and potential.

If he doesn't work out then they have White to fall back on.

When i was much younger I remember getting all pumpwd when the Pats signed guys - guys like henry ellard, terry Allen etc. I remember they signed ellard mid season in maybe 97 or 98. All of us on KFFL thought he was going to come in & catch 6-85 every game. Turns out he was old as schitt and way passed it and lasted like 2 games...

But was he better than Harper? :D

possibly because they have Alfred Morris, Matt Jones, Chris Thompson, Christine Michael & a coaching staff that isn't great at game planning based on players's strengths.

Fixed it for ya.

With Manziel that was not what the coaches wanted him to do. That report is not accurate. That comment is basically just based on his height and weight. He is more jacked than Lewis, about say weight. He is no lightweight, he hits the hole hard and does not go down as easy as the report suggest.
If he does not cause any turnovers and the coaches can work with him, watch out!

Are you trying to cheer us up? :D

I am actually trying to cheer myself up. I have been down on the offense for a while. I will be wishing for good things to come out of this guy.
It took Woodhead a whole week to make an instant impact against the Bills when Faulk went down. RB position is not hard to learn on our system if you are gifted. Show him film of Woodhead pass protection and he will get it, the rest is just reading the field.

My god, this guy has moves. Just saying, if he pans out, and when Lewis comes back next year, imagine that pony formation with both of them in the backfield flanking Tom in shotgun......

Often said that running back is the easiest position for a rookie. For the Patriots though you need to pass protect. So many things impressed about Lewis, and pass protection was one of them. I felt he was the best the Pat's had had with an equal number of games and seemed to have the strength to man it. If Trey can do that he will be shown the field.

Glad BB is looking o upgrade the RB position because it has not been good since Lewis went down.

Preseason Game yippee.....he had 10-52 w a long on 38...so 9-14 otherwise....garbage

Be optimistic. Life too short. Barry sanders was like that, a lot of small runs they he breaks one. Couldn't be worse than our rbs last game. I think they only gave us one 1st down running and Blount kept on ramming into a wall when he could have took a few outside.
