Our new punt returner?

I hope so. Da is gonna see alot more work on offense, cant leave him too exposed on st too. Cant affore him getting hurt now.

Besides his preseason, looking back at his Cal highlights, Harper pretty much always worked in the slot in their offense. He shows really nice agility in tight spaces

How about he plays a snap in an NFL game first? This is Mark Harrison-level praise.

I've seen flashes of great potential every time he was on the field and a ball was thrown his way. Now, granted, it was limited exposure in PS, but I saw Brady going to him time and again. I have a feeling he was not on the roster because he was the lowest common denominator amongst our receiving corp. I think if you put him up against Dobson, he'll run circles around that clown.

Don't get me wrong, I'm fine with Harper being activated, and he does lend some depth in the return game if need be.

But let's not go "stud receiver" on a guy who only made the practice squad because Reggie Wayne retired. He had a nice preseason. So did Brian Tyms last year.

In truth, Brandon Gibson's injury really hurts at this point.

I thought Brian Tyms was another guy that should have been kept around instead of that Dobson jacka$$. Great speed downfield.

Your last sentence may or may not be true, but you didn't see Brady going to Harper "time and time again". He targeted Josh Boyce more than he targeted Chris Harper.

You saw Harper get plenty of work with Garoppolo, against 2015's newest crop of Sandwich Artists.

He's fine, like I said. Average hands, doesn't separate, has a small catch radius, runs sloppy routes and plays shorter than his already short stature.

Like I said, he could be better than Dobson, because Dobson can't catch a ball clean, but there's a reason he was cut in the preseason. If he were as good as you're trying to say, he would have been on the team to start the season.

He could be pretty serviceable someday. That's hardly a "stud", as you put it.

He had 5 catches last year. 4 were in that extended preseason game week 17. Dobson already has 12 this year in limited action AND with the yips.

I sure as hell hope no one is going Adam Seward on Harper.

Yes- Gibson would be good right now.

I mean, Harper could be something, if he takes coaching, over time. There's nothing negative that he does that can't be corrected with coaching. But to expect him to be our Amari Cooper stashed on the PS all season is a little much.

Time will prove one of us wrong.... :)

Some of you seem pretty fired up about our pulling a completely inexperienced SlotBack off the Taxi Squad.

Some of you are right.

There is of course no guarantee ~ far from it ~ that he will even Play, much less get a lot of Snaps.

But from my perspective ~ I simply ran out of time to write Scouting Reports on everyone I wanted to this Spring, as I usually do, for I must attend to my Earth Job ~ he is a phenomenal Route Runner.

I say again: a phenomenal Route Runner.

Had I had time to write'm up, I would've given'm a Warrior Grade ~ that's 2nd/3rd Round.

As a UFA, he was a Steal.

Hell, maybe I will write'm up this week.

It's not as if anyone can accuse me of doing so After The Fact, for he's never yet had a single Snap!!

Tom Brady has Final Say, of course, but he loves Spry Guys like Harper who know how to navigate.

He's already the 3rd best WideOut on the Field, and I pray that he gets the Opportunity.

Yeah, I'm definitely gonna have to write'm up.

... to expect him to be our Amari Cooper stashed on the PS all season is a little much.

I must have missed the posts by Harper's Mom, because nobody else was ever going anywhere near there. ;)

Could he be a fill-in on the level that Austin Collie was a few years back, or maybe ewven better? I hope so. Collie obviously had way more experience, though I'm not sure that the experience gained in Indy's system helped him all that much

Harper was on the initial 53 man roster for a very short time. Dobson looks awkward catching balls.
He makes playing football look hard.

I'm not sure if anyone could tell, but I'm excited about this move.

@daverichard: Chris Harper, who the Patriots added today, reminded me of Edelman/Amendola in the preseason. Worth a spec add in deepdeepdeep 18+ tm lgs.

@ItsChrisHarper: Stoked

Get him while you can :D

Had a great preseason, thought he might even beat our Dobson to make our 53 to open the season. I'm glad for him and really hope he can help us!!!

Someone called him a "stud wide receiver". He is not that.

If he's Austin Collie, I'd say we're doing pretty well for ourselves. That's not to say he can't get better, he can.

I'm psyched for Harper.

And I am projecting miracles, and completely overreacting in a mindlessly positive way!!! ;)

Who knows, maybe he'll surprise us like Dion did. In any event adding depth at WR is a given. Damn it, can't believe we lost Jules! Damn it. F*#&
