Former Pats QB Ryan Mallett misses team flight to game

Arguably, the real winners here are the Patriots. They got what they needed out of him (someone to keep the backup seat warm for a couple of years), got something for him, and then shipped him off before he could hurt anything in Foxboro.

The Patriots didn't win anything here. They pissed away a 3rd round pick on the guy.

So now, what's left for Mallet? Am I wrong or as of now every team is more or less set at QB, even with borderline mediocre QBs but that have the advantage of playbook knowledge? I don't see any team with the situation pretty bad at QB, like the Cardinals last year with that scrub that couldn't complete a pass.

Maybe the Steelers could use him for a game or 2, I don't know how many games Ben will miss and I don't even know what kind of injury Vick suffered.

The CFL. His arm might be useful there.

What a head case Giraffe

Missing the plane not excusable. HOWEVER I watched the game he got yanked from and he was moving the ball up and down the filed before Foster let one go right through his hands (at the 10 yd line)to the other team that was an easy touchdown. He was like 7/10 85 yards at that point. Then he gets hit in the ribs sits like 2 or 3 plays gets back ready to go in and they never put him in. If I put myself in his shoes I would be pissed as well. Dont say Im the starting QB and then not let me finish a game if I only got dusted up and needed 2 plays to gather myself.

Bill Obrien is not doing anyone any favors with his handling of these 2 guys. Not saying he wouldnt have shot himself in the foot but at that point there was no reason to yank him.

Sign the Beast!:p:rolleyes::D

I wonder if he will play again, I could see him never getting another contract but I could also see a team bringing him in for a workout next week

The guys looks the part ie...looks like Tarzan but plays like Jane. Even when he was here Mallett never looked comfortable running our Offense and when he gets hit...I love the way he just peels himself off the carpet. Goodbye and good riddens Mallett better than you ain't even playing. I think the Texans owe him close to a Mill so for doing nothing Mallett is still going to win.

So: let me summarize Ryan Mallett's career:

* College: Frequently acted like complete knucklehead
* Patriots under BB: Acted like complete professional
* Post-Patriots at Houston: Acted like complete knucklehead again

I guess this is why BB gets the big bucks. ;)

He'll probably be a Buffalo Bill before the sun sets.

He is a complete steakhead.

Actually, in his WEEI interview this week, Brady ducked the question of how Mallett had behaved with the Pats. He certainly didn't stick up for him the way one would expect him for most of his former backups.

Bill O Brien had some awful choke job playoff performances as O Coordinator of this team from 09-11. That 2010 loss to the jets was the worst offensive performance I have ever seen from this team. We were so good that year, I had such high hopes for the 2010 team, we literally dominated the best defenses in the league all year

Pre-draft concerns about his attitude were justified.

Blaming O'Brien for '10, when Brady threw a terrible pick on a screen pass with the Patriots in easy scoring range, and Crumpler dropped an easy TD pass, is ludicrous.
