Boston Globe declares the Sox still own Boston

Only in baseball can you finish last place in your division three times in the last four years, and have this much complacency at the end of your season. Enough with the sentimental gestures .... just focus on playing better.

Red Sox suffered from an incompetent Luchino these last few years. Dombrowski has already scouted more Red Sox major and minor league games this year than Larry had watched in the last 4 years. That doesn't mean we win the World Series next year ... but it does mean the effort is back.

Baseball only exists because it is old. If you were a television executive and someone tried to pitch you the idea of the hit the ball with the stick game you would spit in their face. It's existence is a stain on the species much in the way that ISIS is.

The Globe is confusing Boston ,Mass with this Boston in Virginia...

I don't care. I can't stand it.

Baseball certainly has issues ....

I will listen when in the care or casually watch when working at my desk at home.
But I cannot remember the last time I sat down and watched a baseball game only .... so boring.
I only watch the Red Sox but I will watch many NFL games and soccer games regardless of team playing.
I think baseball has become the ultimate homer sport is what I am saying.

I can't remember the last time I watched an entire non-Red Sox, non-playoff MLB game. Not sure how much is due to game inflation (1/162) and how much is due to the actual product. Seems like the game is in much better shape post-roids. I'll watch some playoffs, it's nice with the upped intensity. I'm not into bashing other sports, it's all good.

The Globe has become irrelevant. Who cares what they publish.

To be fair, they won the WS in the other year. They're pretty much the Giants of the MLB. Kinda suck or win it all, no middle ground.

And regardless of how they finished, I'm actually optimistic about next year. Having seen 3 WS wins before age 30 (as opposed to my grandfather, who lived 78 years and never saw one), I'm weirdly okay with the Sox losing. I've seen enough winning to last a lifetime from them, I guess. What's most important to me is that I actually like the team and enjoy watching it, and over the last few months of the season the Sox gave me a lot of reasons to feel good about them. The Orsillo debacle kinda puts a stain on the whole season, but there's a lot of genuinely good, young talent that I can root for.

It's just a real shame that Lucchino had the opportunity to inflict that past offseason on the team, because I'd feel a lot better about it if we didn't have the Porcello, Panda and Hanley contracts hanging around our necks. Oh well, maybe the Dodgers will trade for them too.

Be careful. You can get yourself in trouble commenting positively about the Red Sox around here. Lots of sensitive butt hurt.

I'm just frustrated that a team with so much talent and the 3rd highest payroll in the MLB, can come in last place in their division, and not make the playoffs

Totally agree, Icy. I'm a fan of the team, not a fan of the sport
