How can the team overcome the loss of next year's 1st round draft pick?

Aren't we supposed to be getting a few compensatory draft picks next years anyway?

Looks like we have a loaded young roster with limited space anyway. Doesn't mean that Goodell isn't an ***hole and makes what he did right but draft position doesn't really seem to be all that important in the NFL.

1) Target oppositions #1 pick..........a neutralizing tactic
2) Play the Putin Super Bowl ring chip............time for Vlad to return the favor.......Russian satellite spying on opposition practices
3) BB calls up the St Louis Cardinals and gets some AFC passwords

Maybe after this is all played out we'll get the picks back. If the science proves the balls weren't tampered with what is the justification for keeping the picks?

There could be more sinister workings here such as hobbling the Patriots to make the league less predictable for entertainment and monetary purposes.at some point I'll stop watching a rigged league. But that is one thing still keeping me watching is bellichick overcoming the fraud from the nfl and referees and manufactured anti patriot hate and winning despite all that. Bellichick defying the corruption and the odds is an inspiration to the little guy facing the same thing in life.
belichick is a cross between hercules, enduring the unfair labors and the ultimate anti hero defying the establishment and never kissing ass.

It's not really a matter of "overcoming" it. It's a loss of a potential resource, and the Pats will continue to do the best they can without it. And over the next few seasons any year they don't win the Super Bowl--particularly if they fall just short--it'll be a one of the thoughts you have analyzing the season.

But look, that's true of anything--losing the pick, making a bad pick, guys getting injured. On the flip side, when you win, you think, wow, would we have done that without this great pick/trade/unknown guy stepping up.

This really is one of those "it is what it is" deals. Can't analyze it much beyond that.

Hey, this is a good idea. If only there were some sort of official procedure for this....

Maybe they could hold a meeting between goodell and all the owners, where Kraft could ask him in a relaxed atmosphere...oh, never mind.

Pretend the future all pro Cb duo of Butler and Roberts were first round picks.

Find some actual first round picks that washed out each year [probble] and pretend we picked those guys instead.

Take steps to shame the NFL into reversing their decision. The only long shot possibility I see is that Brady sues the NFL for defamation and the NFL realizes they have no case, then agrees to reverse all penalties as part of a settlement, including the team penalties. Or, even better, the league loses the case and Goodell gets canned.

The Pats should flash the PSI on the scoreboard every time a ball is intercepted during a cold weather game at home and show how ridiculous this whole thing is.

This really was Kraft's battle to fight. It's a shame he's such a spineless #*&#^.

Thanks Bob for your support of Goodell. Only the Pats and its fans are screwed.

Lock BB in the closet when we're choosing our 2nd rounder.

We can pass the hat at games to pay for a FA instead.

I'm sure Bill has concocted a plan even as we speak....

Well in 2000 they didn't have a first round draft pick but managed to pick-up Tom Brady on the 6th round. In 2009 they didn't have a first round pick but got Vollmer and Edelman. Again in 2013, no first round pick but they get Jamie Collins. 2014 first round pick Easley got put on IR but 4th round pick Stork looks like he will be our starting center for years to come.

The Patriots are a young talented team. Loss of a draft pick would be devastating to a less talented team but Belichick is one of the best GMs and Head Coaches in the NFL and is well equipped to deal with adversity.
