Chandler turning heads at OTAs

Really looking forward to the Tight End duo of Chandler and Gronk, especially in the red zone. It has the potential to be the best in the NFL.

Imagine if Jamie Collins gets some reps at TE, he's got the athleticism to be more dynamic than the murderer was.

Mabye Fred Davis will come out of obscurity and be the flex tight end we've all pined for since our piece of garbage ****head tight end murdered someone

They actually did run him at TE during last year's training camp IIRC.

Collins strikes me as one of those guys who if you gave him some golf clubs for the 1st time and a hand full of lessons in the spring and told him what to practice he'd be carrying a 8 handicap by the end of the summer.

Big fan of Scott, he's part of why I thought NE's FA wasn't as disastrous as the consensus indicated.

Chandler is a great pick up. Takes away a weapon from within the division, minimizing a dramatic reduction in ability in our own secondary. Chandler is the reason Wright was let go and we brought in the unheralded blocking te. We have gronkx who can so it all. We have Hooman, who the staff feels is adequate doing it all as a backup (I despise the fact he is on the roster, but I'm not a coach). We now have a te in the mold of Jimmy graham, strong recieving, rather soft blocking. Wright was meh recieving (although a large RZ target), and nonexistent blocking. So there shouldn't be too many people suprised to see wright cut.

That said, the RZ offense should be absurd next year. IF the young OG picks pan out...look out nfl. IF Brown pans out...LOOK OUT NFL.

Is the secondary suspect? Absolutely. Suspect would seem an understatement. That said, our front seven and lb corps seems plenty able to minimize this weakness assuming health down the stretch. I currently believe the offense could also be on a 07 dominance level. While maybe not as explosive, they look to be (early and on paper, I know) built as an extremely efficient group, able to attack any defensive unit from any direction.

I also like Twin Towers...i am going with it

That would be something, although I'm not personally expecting him to make the squad myself. That's just based on nothing more than a hunch and past history, but it'd be a nice problem to have. I'm assuming that Hooman battles it out with the other two, and makes it as the 3rd TE--then we keep someone like Derby on the practice squad.

As others have mentioned, Gronk may actually be playing some part of the move TE role in this scenario, with his ability to line up in different spots, etc. Chandler would likely be playing the more traditional inline TE here, although they'd both likely switch at times.

Yeah I'm not expecting a lot from Davis either just wishful thinking. It would be cool to see that derby kid emerge he has some big physical tools for a move TE

With you on A.J. Derby he might be a steal of a pick we have done well with converted QB's. I love his size and athletic ability he's a work in progess in the blocking department. But with the Gronk/Chandler combo a guy like A.J. Derby could develop on this roster. Derby has alot to work with.

Single coverage all game every game he will be living large. This O if healthy will lead the league in scoring.

I like the offense overall but the guards still need to show they will be able to handle the D Lines they will be facing in the East, and I still think they need a RB who can turn the corner. It looks like they will have to wait for cuts or trade to fill that role.

I think this is a pretty accurate post.

We need to come up with a name for the Gronk/Chandler duo.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves....probably one game needed to really judge how amazing he is. :)

If Chandler is any good, this red zone offense is going to be downright unstoppable.
