Some interesting tidbits
http://espn.go.com/blog/new-england...4/follow-up-thoughts-on-the-patriots-rebuttal

2. How could someone from the NFL not take possession of the Patriots' footballs the night of the AFC title game? The Patriots ultimately sent the footballs to Wells themselves. Think about that for a moment: The Patriots were fined $1 million, lost a 2016 first-round draft pick, a 2017 fourth-round draft pick and quarterback Tom Brady was suspended for the first four games of the 2016 regular season ... and the NFL didn't even take the primary evidence with them on the night they began the investigation.

4. Jim McNally allowed himself to be interviewed by NFL security the night of the AFC title game, doing so without a member of the organization present. That isn't necessarily consistent with someone who has something to hide.

2 doesnt seem relevant. The only thing relevant was the PSI before and during the games. The issue is how that was measured before and during the game.

4. is consistent with having nothing to hide but also consistent with being an idiot

Probably teetering the line a bit for espns liking.

ESPN is after everything is said and done. Rogers slave network.

ESPN is in a contract for those Monday night games. And they know if they piss off Goofy Goodell that it is more probable than not they may lose them the next time the contract.

its my opinion Reiss lost a lot of his creativity with joining that network.

I wonder if Simmons is leaving for that reason? Funny they suspended him for calling Goodell a liar. What does that tell you about ESPN? You can have an opinion of Goodell if your on a message board or blog but you can't have an opinion if your network is in a big money contract with the NFL?

Mark Brunell calling Tom Brady a liar: nothing
Bill Simmons calling Roger Goodell a liar: suspension

All you need to know about ESPN, and why I haven't gone on their network (except for an actual game) or their site (except Reiss and that's ending now after ESPN's destruction of it) for a couple of years now.

Reiss is an acorn in the forest at ESPN.

If Kraft remains as the chairman of the TV committee, ABC/ESPN may be paying a heavy price for their coverage.

The Rest of the NFL: but but but ....the pats are cheaters

I cringe every time someone attempts to use the word "cheaters". It reminds me exactly of a bunch of elementary school kids whining & crying in gym class over the rules of dodgeball or some other petty rule of a game.

Just a reminder about Reiss's blog, from 8/13/2013:

max (my cube)
Mike,I don’t see the “Patriots blog” section on the ESPN Boston homepage anymore. Has it been removed for some reason?
Mike [via mobile]
Can you get rid of all the extra links that have been popping up on the blog lately? I don’t need a link to a clip of any ESPN show that mentions the Patriots. Most of it is overlap with information you have already posted.

Max and Mike, I see quite a few comments similar to yours in this chat. I think over the last four years, we’ve established a community that is straight-forward and honest, so I’m going to shoot you straight here: I have lost control over the tone and direction of the Patriots blog on ESPNBoston.com. Since I started a Patriots blog back in 2003-2004, back at the MetroWest Daily News and then at the Boston Globe, I’ve always had control, for the most part, of the tone and direction of the blog. Over the last three days, that has changed as ESPN has introduced its NFL Nation project. Based on the personal investment I’ve put into it, there are a lot of emotions that come with that, and still a lot of questions ahead as to how things will unfold going forward as it relates to the tone and direction of the blog. I’m going to stay positive at this point, knowing that any time there is change there is some level of patience involved.

Not forgetting his own blog during Framegate...

I will always keep visting Mike's blog, and I just wish it wasn't polluted with all the other garbage. RSS feeds help.

I think Reiss is a little off on his second point. The issue isn't that they didn't take the balls with them that night, it's that they pumped them back up at half time thus destroying the evidence. Who thought that was a good idea? I can't imagine a third party arbitrator or a judge, if it makes it that far, wouldn't throw the case out just based on that. The NFL destroyed the evidence and then prosecuted. Incredible. Seriously, they had 12 back up balls they could have used that stayed locked up. Hell, they could have used the backup balls for the second half and then taken both sets of balls after the game with them to compare.

I read the other day that simmons was let go by bspn. They didn't tell him, he found out through social media.

Kraft's chairmanship has seen the "worldwide leader " relegated to broadcasting NFL scraps: out of the Super bowl rotation, one wild card game. Monday night is nearly always a crappy matchup. This can't be sitting well in Bristol and with Disney execs.

Frankly. If I was Kraft, I'd direct my defamation civil action against BSPN and not the NFL citing the erroneous Mort report which escalated this nonsense to a major scandal. The NFL will be sufficiently embarrassed in the processed I'm sure.

Yes but Kraft is the chairman of the broadcast committee...

What would be the point of taking possession of the balls when the PSI constantly changes due to temperature differences? The Weather would destroy the real evidence.

It would be like taking a cone of Ice Cream on a hot day for evidence in a crime. You will only have the cone left as the Ice Cream has melted.

Good. Maybe he can go back to the way he used to write back in his freelance days.

He's still great. So is Mike Reiss in a less humorous way.

And the Pats are still the defending NFL Champions!

Just bring them up to locker room temperature and let themm dry and they could have seen them come back to 12.5 psi. Ice cream is not the best analogy.
