I think people are being unfair to Wells. He's obviously an accomplished man, and is likely quite brilliant. The problem seems to be more of an inability to translate that brilliance into sports culture, as we saw in the Martin case long before deflategate came along.

His report, though, is really shoddy work, I'll grant that. I give the benefit of the doubt, such as it is, that he was stretching to reach a conclusion instead of just getting the facts, because there are essentially no incriminating facts that can withstand even moderate scrutiny.

Wells may be brilliant and I don't doubt that he is, but that doesn't preclude him from being unethical.

I was surprised by that as well. He's showing incredibly thin skin and actually acting in ways he would always advise clients not to act. He's doing significant damage to his reputation and the worst is yet to come. I can't wait for Kessler to shred that report. I wish it was going to be live.

In actuality, a sting is the act of law enforcement either observing or simulating an illegal act in process.

Discretionary Policy Issue?? What is that? How did the Colts know the ball didn't jive? Why was Grigson screaming from the press box at NFL security? They had pressure gauges on the sidelines and thats when Kensildick teleported down to the field and ripped Shoenfeld a new one.

How does this not have anything to do with his report??? IT IS THE REPORT. Everything from the last five months emanates from the Colts's squawking about balls b/c the Ravens said they should.

If it "happens all the time" why where these circumstance taken so seriously?

By the way, this reminds me of something being posted about last night. Someone was posting about the ills of being brash, and I was noting that it's usually a winning strategy (as brash is not the same as stupid). Well, Yee's response last night was brash, and it led to this popcorn worthy event.

I'm an attorney and I'm starting to wonder how Wells even passed the bar. It's one thing to create that sham report but this performance today just confirmed what an insipid pawn he really is.

I just got the chance to listen to Wells.... I heard the whole clip.

The FIRST person I thought of after he ended was ..Arlen Specter.

The tone, the faux outrage, the egotistical overkill...I'm more convinced than ever he is completely biased.

On to the hearing...I fervently expect Wells to be hoisted by his own petard of arrogance. Lord Hear Our Prayer.

I'm around a lot of lawyers (hi tech ones) and if he was on a con call with me and came off as he did today I would have terminated the relationship. Amateur Hour...

The press conference likely reinforced people's opinions on both sides. In that sense, it's not really anything significant, and Wells got to play the victim card while getting his profile raised a bit. What is significant, though, is the 3-4 gaffes that came out of it that may end up being importatnt if this thing gets into federal court.

He has an outstanding reputation. IMHO, he is tearing it down by catering to the client and his firm's revenue needs. The Report is long, professional and detailed, but that masks a number of flaws and biases that are hard to reconcile. IOW, you can't put lipstick on that pig.

Ok, I've now gone through the entire thread, and enjoyed the popcorn. Bruce Allen's stuff was pretty good, btw. If I missed anything that anyone (i.e. @ausbacker, who tagged me) wants my take on, please make a post with the question and tag me in it, as I won't see the thread otherwise.
