Goodell: ‘Understanding’ is Wells has 'finished interview portion'’ of Deflategate report

This concerns me. Are they going to take the fact that untampered with footballs reacting to the laws of physics, is grounds for a limitless anal exam of the Pats' complete history?

No other team has had to endure this.

The only silver lining I can see in this is the league can say they left no stone unturned, even if the scope of the investigation was ridiculous.

Say they have no evidence of physical tampering during the AFCCG and Belichick, Brady and Garropolo all deny knowledge of an attempt to do so. As much of a waste of time as it was to ask, the league can also say they found no evidence during any other games and that Hoyer, Cassel, Flutie, Davey, etc also denied there were instructions to doctor the footballs.

Coupled with the report that tamper gate may be finished before Thursday, maybe they found the Jets and Kensil collaborated to frame the Pats with deflated footballs and are going to hammer the Jets for both at once.

It's a nice thought, anyways. :)

Rumor has it that during the investigations a popcorn vendor admitted short changing two customers at Gillette stadium during the 2003 season and pocketed the difference.

The Pats will be docked their 2015 and 2016 1st round draft picks, Brady must play the 2015 season without pads, and BB is suspended for the 2015 season and must wear a Rats ball cap anytime he is out in public.

Because this started with that cold Ravens game where at the half the temp was 18 degrees and the balls would be around 9.7 PSI

Sure, but why is Goodell still talking about "was it for just one game." It clearly implies he thought we are/were guilty.

do these people have selective memory ? how come nobody asks about charity ball gate ?

It's highly unlikely we are going to get anything for tampergate.

I think it'll be a late round swap with next year's picks. It won't be anything of substance.

Great job, Ted Wells. It's only taken you almost 4 months to interview the appropriate parties.
But, you forget the important part--four months worth of billable hours. Lucky Teddy.

What does the "it" refer to? Could it be to the refs not recording psi?

This image has leaked. It shows the next stage of the investigation for Mr. Wells:

I'm crying.

There is no way to tell if "it" was one game. They didn't record readings during any previous games. So other than taking an opponents word the league can't say any balls were deflated previously.

But the way Goodell phrased it makes it seem like he thinks the pats are guilty. Any other interpretation is just false hope on our part. Unless Goodell is even more of an idiot that I already think he is. He shouldn't have phrased it like that

No way the League releases this report before the draft. Even if you buy the theories that Goodell is out to get the Pats, the draft is the second most watched NFL event besides the Super Bowl and there is no way he is going to tarnish that with making DeflateGate the biggest story this week. Never going to happen.
If it makes the league look bad, they might release during the draft, to try to soften the backlash.

Alas, that's the problem with vague pronouns. Can we just get this nonsense to stop? Commissioner Dipsh*t has already let this get waaaaaaaaay out of hand.

I think that's wishful thinking.

Ultimately, it doesn't matter too much what Goodell thinks until he's seen what Wells report says. Goodell is an idiot. But I do find it a little disconcerting.

It's better than that. Florio has actually been banging the drum the past 2 weeks that the investigation looks to be turning away from the Pats and onto the league.

No one who has been paying attention should be surprised by what will come out in that Wells report. While the rest of the nation will be in shock, those paying attention this whole time won't be.
After Aikman's comments about Brady in the middle of this, it will be Christmas in May if he lists the Cowboys as one of the teams that did not comply with league regulations regarding gameday balls (whatever they might or might not have been).

How on earth did you take that interpretation from what Goodell said? He deliberately remained as vague as possible with the most uncommitted answer he could possibly give. It sounds more like he doesn't even know what the hell is going on. There are some things to be worried about but Goodell's words here are not among them.

What I expect to find in Wells report is: Patriots did not deflate the footballs. Nature did. Recommendations to change how the footballs are handled once the team hands them over to the officals. Possible recommendation to test a random ball for psi from each team at the end of each quarter or at the half. If football is below or above the acceptable psi due to temperature, then deflate/inflate footballs to proper psi.
Recommendation to modify existing rules to meet new conditions for the 2015 NFL season.

Report will probably contain interviews with the other teams and how they handle footballs prior to the game. Patriots handling of the footballs will be found to be within the acceptable norm.

That the football that was intercepted by D'Qwell Jackson was classified as a souvenir when it left the field of play and no longer under control by the NFL. That it was tampered with by repeated measurements by people other then the NFL gameday officials. That any measurements done on that football were null and void as to deliberate tampering by the New England Patriots. That the actions of Kensil and the Colts were not in the best interest of the NFL. Although no direct evidence was found that there was a deliberate act to frame the New England Patriots, the actions of Kensil and the Colts did harm to the Patriots and the NFL in general. There was enough circumstantial evidence to suggest the Colts planned to do harm to the Patriots. That Kensil was complicit in this arrangement. That the leaks from the NFL was a deliberate attempt to do harm to the New England Patriots.

Recommendations that compensation be made to the New England Patriots for the harm done to them by the Colts and NFL. That disciplinary action be taken against Kensil and the Colts.

Why does he say "Patriots not fined."

Does that relate to defaltegate?

That relates to the Jets filing tampering against Kraft. What he should've said is that the Jets weren't fined additionally for frivolous charges, as they should have been.
