Reggie Bush in the building

Can we please figure out how to bring a solid receiving back in? It's kind of important to our offense. I hope there is someone in the draft that we like. I hate the idea of James White being that guy. He has shown nothing to suggest that he can fill Vereen's shoes.

Have you seen the quality of RBs available in the draft this year? I couldn't care less if the Patriots don't bring in a veteran.

We need to use those early picks to shore up the lines. Using them on a RB would be maddening.

Feel like it's sort of like the Harvin deal. Potentially very good, but with issues. Harvin's talent hadn't really seemed to drop off, but he was a bigger head case. Stevie will need to work harder to get where he needs to be, but his problems are likely easier to overcome.
Yep.

The other question is how involved in the offense does he expect to be. Between, Jules, Gronk and LaFell thats ~350 targets right there. Figure Amendola will get ~50. Chandler gets 50. Figure 50 for everyone else. Thats ~500 and I'm not even including Dobson bouncing back (maybe).

If Johnson or any FA WR comes here that isn't all-world, he needs to be prepared for about ~50 targets. Unless he goes gangbusters it won't be more than that.

Vereen did literally nothing his rookie year. We need someone to contribute immediately.
Vereen wasn't an integral, core member of the Patriots. He was a platoon, 3rd down back with pass catching ability. The entire RB brigade could do with an upgrade.

Continue investing in the Offensive Line, make a run at Stevie Johnson, assume Dobson develops and look at using a 2nd or 3rd on a RB in the draft.

I think he would probably sign expecting to go gangbusters. If he doesn't, he can only blame himself for his role. I have to believe if he performs up to his talent, he will become a featured player in the offense.

Good discussion.

Here, he will have to earn his reps. They will not be handed to him.

All assuming he even signs here :) I guess we shouldn't get ahead of ourselves...

I guess it will be better to wait for something from Rap or Schefter because really, the Pats would make an offer at bare minimum. He might not accept it but we'd offer something, even if its some low ball

@deters Reggie Bush left New England without a contract, b/c team plans on trading for Adrian Peterson, per sources. #Patriots

Hey look, i'm now as credible as she is! Hate the "per sources" crap.
She also reported that Harvin to the Bills wasn't necessarily done and that the 49ers were making a play. Vic Carucci disputed that. If she was wrong on that she might well be wrong about the Bush visit.

But per sources!

Coming up on 10 news at 10, big foot discovered - per sources!

Damn, really wanted him.

Watch this deal be announced tomorrow despite the claims of these sources.

Percy Harvin also left without a contract with the bills and was signed a day later.

Are we sure it's "offer" and not "deal". Pats don't usually bring guys like that if they aren't genuinely interested in them and are willing to offer them a deal.

From what I remember most of the bigger names they brought in for a visit last year were ultimately offered a contract.
