What does Bill Belichick's son do for the Patriots?

PHOENIX -- Tucked away behind the scenes in Foxborough, the New England Patriots are slow cooking a secret weapon: Bill Belichick's son.
Super Bowl Sunday will cap Steve Belichick's third season as a Patriots coaching assistant, a role that requires long hours of toil for a notoriously challenging boss.
"Bill is a demanding guy," said running backs coach Ivan Fears. "All I'm going say is, just like anything else, whether Steve is the son or anybody else, if he's working for Bill, Bill is a demanding coach. Steve is learning, he's doing a hell of a job. That's got be a little tough for him, but I'm not going to go any further than that."
Pressed for details on Steve's daily duties, Fears laughed out loud: "I ain't getting into that one!"
The many Patriots we spoke with were unwilling to sing about Steve's specific role in New England, but the praise flowed freely.

Does anyone else have the feeling that the Krafts and Belichicks have this all figured out for decades to come? I have a sneaking suspicion that Brady is somehow part of these future plans as well.

That would be absolutely amaze-balls. If 15 years from now we're in the Super Bowl with Steve Belichick as the head coach and Brady's son under center.

Brady and Giselle have 800 mil in assets. I don't think he'll go into coaching where you work 80 hours+ a week.

Steve Belichick on the other hand will be a coach someday.

I think Brady is addicted to the competition. He will not stray far from his first love, the game.

Brady will take his competitive drive to the world of politics.

Definitely sounds like Steve will be a position coach soon, the way they talk about his intelligence and work ethic. Certainly something interesting to watch going forward.

Brady will take his competitive drive to the world of politics.

Brady has declared what he'll do after football -- the nutrition/fitness business. I think he'll stick by that decision.

Other than that, his wife's first career and his second career is modeling -- and nutrition/fitness is the classic follow-on when you're too old to model. (Ditto for actresses who no longer get roles based on looks -- think Jane Fonda back in the day, or Gwyneth Paltrow now.)

I frankly don't think he reads or cares enough about political issues to engage in politics. Famously having an illegitimate kid wouldn't help him either.

Brady is headed for business or coaching, and if it's business I think it will be something connected to his previous career, and the nutrition/fitness thing is the fit. I agree with those who think he won't bother with coaching, and I also don't think he'll just be a full-time philanthropist, for reasons similar to those I don't think he'll be a politician.

I see Kraft potentially selling Brady part of the team and have him run the football operations with his son Jonathan Kraft handling the business side of the franchise. Kraft is getting older and is unlikely to be able to maintain a full time working schedule for more than 5-7 more years.

48 hours!!!!!!!

I wish i could go under anaesthesia for 42 of them. I'd gladly give up my Saturday to have it be Sunday afternoon right now.

I wondered about Brady getting a piece of the ownership a couple of days ago, when Kraft was talking about reworking Brady's contract and said something about how complicated it was.

The other multigenerational dimension is Kraft's own offspring, it would be wild to have Steve Belichick coaching Jonathan Kraft's Patriots in the Super Bowl someday, wouldn't it? Especially if Brady is Jonathan's partner and GM...

Didn't he say a couple of years ago that he no longer desires to go into politics?

"Famously having an illegitimate kid" being any kind of impediment might've mattered 60 years ago. Brady did express serious interest in running for political office but apparently changed his mind: http://deadspin.com/5958283/tom-brady-used-to-want-a-post-nfl-career-in-politics

On if he's considered a second career in politics:
"I follow it relatively closely. I enjoy watching, kind of, the banter that goes back and forth. I don't think I'll ever get into politics. Maybe at one point I thought that might be something I want to do, but I think you take a step back and you realize the impact that you can have as a citizen. And we always look, in times like this, to elect a person or an individual to change you or change situations or change things around. And I always believe in - certainly what I've learned from football and playing for the Patriots - is it starts within yourself. And that's the biggest lesson I've ever learned from this game. And I'm sure a lot of businesses, hopefully countries, move past whatever situations they may be in that are challenging … And you realize what you need to do to help your country or to help your team, or to help your company. That's the approach that I think I've always taken, certainly it's … in the culture of what our team's been all about."

On why he's changed his mind on a career in politics:
"Well I think it's just the frustration between both parties that have really been polarizing with one another to - from my perspective - not always do what's in the best interest of the country. And to fight just to fight. And maybe that's the way it's always been. I don't believe that's the way it always has to be. We do have a lot of people that want to make strong commitments to doing what we need to do to pull our country out of whatever tough situations we face, but we oftentimes look to the government to solve those things and sometimes there's too much of these special interests that get in the way of accomplishing greater good. And I think that's the frustrating part for a lot of Americans."

IMO Brady will be a Patriot for life and work with the team on alternative physical therapy techniques. Hopefully, this will put the Pats a step ahead of everyone for a while and bring some more championships back to New England.

I just re-watched the 3 Games To Glory DVDs. I hadn't watched them in a long time. It was great. Hopefully we'll get another for this year. It was awesome looking back on those early Brady years with Tedy, Willie and Troy Brown, my favorite player of them all.

The Snow Bowl still gave me chills.
The dirty play by Flowers on Brady still pissed me off.
Drew. What a class act.
East Boston's own Jermaine Wiggins. He was huge.
Law and Lawyer, Otis "Our Man" Smith.
JR Redmond, David Patten and many more.
Silence of the Rams and Peyton Blows Another I & II
Antoine Smith and then Clock Killin' Dillon.
David Givens and Rodney "No Respect" Harrison. Christian Fauria
Gino to Gil Santos on the Pats maybe winning the game and heading to the SB, "Pack your bags Gil, don't worry about it."
Tedy telling off the world about changing the rules in 2004 "and we'll still beat ya"
Pittsburgh being our b***h for most of the time.
Willie stopping Indy on 4th down.
However, not even Tommy LomBrady could top the greatest single performance by any player that I can ever remember. Making multiple big plays as a WR, a PR and a DB on the way to 3 SB wins. Troy Brown.
I feel blessed to have been a part of all that.
Go Pats. Bring it home one more time.

After watching Brady's DFG presser, I'd have a hard time believing he has any desire to enter the world of politics.

Brady will always be associated with this franchise in one way or another.. I wonder if he might have aspirations for partial ownership???

Steve Belichick is working his way through the ranks and time will tell if he is worthy of more responsibility, he needs to be seasoned by working for crappy organizations so he can understand how not to do it.. he also needs to be fired at least once.

I like the OP plan better, but as a failover there is always the Ted Williams plan...
