We're on to San Diego

This game has me concerned. The Chargers play well at home and we're .500 on the road. The biggest confidence I have is B&B's track record after losses, and that Brady is going to be super pizzed.

I know some here are writing off San Diego but i think it will be another tough game by virtue of the game being played in San Diego_Our inability to get off the field on third down on D disturb me, the afc east race is a little tighter this year(still think we win)so nobody will be resting anytime soon. Its a tough, tough schedule so we will have to display our own toughness.

If SD wins this home game they move ahead of the Pats. That alone should earn them plenty of respect.

I like Rivers. Always have. He showed me a lot when he was injured and saddled with LT Quit, but still made a game of it here in 2007 for the AFC title.

This game is HUGE!

Chargers to wear powder blue uniforms Sunday vs. Patriots. Second and final time this season.

Dont they have a very good record in this ?

Yes but not when their week 14 game is at home in prime time. Unless it is on a Monday, but then also only if their opponent is from the NFC.. so don't worry..

No they don't. NE would still be the AFCE leader and Denver would still be the AFCW leader making SD's H2H win irrelevant. SD also has the most difficult schedule in the entire league from here on out, so even if NE loses and even if Miami somehow steals the division, SD still is unlikely to end up tied with the Patriots.

It's a big game for seeding, not really for whether NE makes the playoffs.

I used to think Rivers was a douche, but he's grown on me.

He is better than Mr Classy. My respect for him grew when he played on ACL tear in the AFCCG.

I've grown to respect Rivers as well. He's a good family guy and does a lot of great community work off the field. I think he got a bad rap during the LT and Lights Out clown show days.

San Diego would have the tie-breaker if the Pats lose. And if the Pats lose just one more game to Miami, a team they already lost to, the Pats could be in deep doo doo. That isn't irrelevant. Neither is seeding.

I'm hoping that the Pats beat Rivers and then he takes care of P6 for us. Then we'd all like Rivers a lot.

I am more worried about this game then Green Bay. In fact I think chargers could win this easily if the pats don't show up

Come on folks, the pats lost last week to a big time better team than SD, in fact they played a great game in GB. I know SD can be good but I also know they can be very inconsistent they haven't played the schedule NE has, NE wins this without any problem. Plus they are pissed about last week, not good for SD.

I expect us to be able to move the ball pretty easily. The one thing that would concern me is matching up with their receivers plus Gates.
The Green Bay game was almost like a free game. This is a much more important game. I just wish I didn't have to wait until Sunday night to watch it, I hate the late night games, so nervous during the day.:)

Like what revis says here about the bonding this team is having on their trip.

Having gone through so much already, you wonder if the Patriots will have enough in the tank for what they hope will be two more months and seven more games.

This San Diego junket may be something they look back on warmly as a rejuvenator. Or not.

Darrelle Revis thinks it will be the former.

“I think it’s great (spending the week in San Diego),” he said. “This is really thought out by our organization and Bill and the coaching staff of doing this after such a big game as Green Bay. Guys are hanging out, sitting by the pool relaxing and being around each other. This is a crucial time in our season for us to continue to be around each other and have each other’s back as a team. We have this one and three after this so we really need to be on the same page as a team.”

Me too.

I used to think that his fire and competitiveness came off wrong, but after seeing several interviews with him and other teammates that he never swears etc, and is highly dedicated to his family etc, I have much more respect for him.

I didn't say playoff seeding isn't irrelevant, in fact I stated the opposite. I just said that, between SD's brutal schedule and NE's likelihood of winning the East even if they lose this week, SD's H2H tiebreaker has about a 0.3% chance of being meaningful.

If we are going to worry that much, why not be concerned about the Patriots losing all of their remaining games and falling out of the playoffs entirely?

I'm not needling you to be a jerk, I just think we should keep things in proper perspective. Would anyone really be worried about losing a 2 game lead to Miami with 4 to go (and one of those four against Miami in Foxboro) if their seven game win streak was intact? Are they really that much different a team after a single road loss to perhaps the best team in the NFL?

It is the same ******** here and in the Boston/NE media after every loss. Just ignore the noise.. literally.. press the ignore button..

There have been a number of reports hinting about this. It seems like a very smart move by BB - not only avoiding the wear and tear of flying back and forth, but getting the team together for a week and working in a quiet way on team-building. I think this is the kind of move that could end up paying dividends down the stretch.

In my personal Fantasy Land, I can imagine the players saying on 3GTG4 about how this week was particularly galvanizing not just because of the time away but because it came after the disappointing loss. They'll credit the bonding time as being the driving force that leads them to rolling through the rest of the regular season and finally bringing home the hardware.
