Globe haters will love the snarkiness of this latest gem.....though they captured my sentiments spot on
http://www.boston.com/sports/column...ew_optum_field_lounge_is_optimal_insanit.html

I hate the stupid endzone club plan also, but the campaign by the Globe is just too hypocritical there also.

Comment of the Year in the comments section:

The owners of the Boston Globe and the Boston Red Sox got a sweetheart deal from Mayor Menino and the BRA giving them the opportunity to turn Yawkey Way (They really named a street after the guy?) into John Henry's bar and grill for up to 90 nights a year - with very little return guaranteed to the taxpayers of the City of Boston. Naturally, The Globe said nothing about this - any chance to slam the Kraft's though.

That everyone's a winner crap made me a total ***** as a child. Took some rough years to really re program my brain to this dog eat dog world. I'll never do that to my kids.

That's pretty sad. It doesn't have to be like that. There's this thing called a middle ground, you know? The last thing the world needs is another dog-eat-dog a-hole taking up breathing space with seven billion of 'em already. It begs the question if you think the world is that grim, why even have kids?

Lmao that's quite the judgment off of a couple sentences. I don't have a grim view of the world, at least in my opinion. I was just raised to be a loser, and had to drastically change my state of mind to make myself a winner. You can be about peace and unity while still understanding this world is dog eat dog. Maybe your life experiences are just different than mine.

I think there's a happy medium with that stuff. The extremes on either side of that swing is what results in personal unhappiness.

......but back to the thread topic.......

Agreed, but yes thread topic. Globe a bunch of punks with agendas. I don't buy the globe because I don't have a bird cage to line with it.

Hehehe, a moderator preaching moderation! :D

Deus is right, an athlete swearing at a loss is major news and I don't see how anyone can deny that. The Globe was right on the money to devote an ediyorial to the cause of ending swearing in professional sports.

I don't get you guys. Dan Shaunessy is the greatest columnist who's ever put ink to paper.

Considering that the loss was to the Packers Brady would likely be facing a 4 game suspension if he had been screaming FUDGE FUDGE FUDGE.

Why is this paper still around? i thought it was going to fold a couple of years ago do to declining readership

Everyone knows that if the Pats were really good sports, they would have invited the Packers players into their locker room for Popeyes chicken and beer. To the Globe, that is true sportsmanship.

And he has never sworn.

.....actually he called me at home 10 years ago and, while arguing with me, swore his head off while I fed a bottle to my infant daughter.

True story.

He was calling because of a comment I wrote online under one of his columns upset him greatly. He called from the press box of the Seattle Mariners ballpark on the night of the Patriots 2004 opening game and when I asked him to clean up his language, he came back with "What are you, the Mormon Tabernacle Choir?".

***Kinda makes me laugh harder now with his newspaper's blue nosing the Patriots......perhaps those hypocrits should be more worried about their OWN payroll employees calling people in their homes and spewing the same language Brady yelled on a football sideline. Methinks what Shaughnessy did was many levels worse than what Brady did.:D

Evidently, the QB's ACT wasn't the criteria. It was all about which team the QB played for.

Yell a curse word on your own sidelines during the heat of a last minute game and the Globe Editorial department will publish an editorial criticizing you and your organization.

Knock your wife out unconscious in an elevator and a Globe editorialist will claim that sports stars are not role models anyhow and if the wife wants him back on the field, that wish should be respected.

Ladies and Gentlemen, Boys and Girls..... I give you THIS from the Boston Globe Opinion section literally 24 HOURS after the "Bad Sportsmanship" editorial:

http://www.bostonglobe.com/opinion/...ce/kBaW8Amk7GJhx32a4Ix1YL/story.html#comments

JOAN VENNOCHI
Listen to Janay Rice

This column from a Globe editorialist ends with these ironic words:

"Some may conclude that Ray Rice also lost the public’s trust. But to believe that, you also have to believe today’s professional athletes are special role models.
For many of us, that balloon burst a long time ago."

Ummm........Joannie, "many of us"?????? You may want to look at your own editorial board! :D
