Quest for the #1 seed

I think they'll lose one, and might possibly lose a second. But yeah, they're probably going to finish 13-3, which makes the Pats' margin of error going forward pretty small if we want HFA. On the bright side, a win against the Colts puts us pretty firmly in the driver's seat for a first round bye.

Not to be overly optimistic but 17-2 is definitely doable if they keep playing dominant football like they have.

Sorry if I was snarky. I guess I am overly sensitive these days.

I never said the Chiefs would run the table. I just think it is more likely than the Broncos. I doubt either will. I just don't t hink the Broncos are the same team on the road than they are at home no matter what they did to the Raiders.

BTW, three out of nine games is more of being occasionally than generally.

Fair enough.

I apologize as well if I offended you. I was just joking around with the "c'mon man" stuff they do on ESPN--but it's sometimes difficult to determine one's intent over the web.

We'll all be rooting for both KC as well as STL (this weekend), although it may be a tall order. As we know, anything is always possible.

Huge loss for Denver today, but our team needs to take care of business. Can't see Denver dropping too many more of these.

Part 1 complete, now pats need to complete part 2

Everything seems to be lining up for them right now. KC is definitely a situation to monitor, but I think they'll ultimately drop the game to Denver. I feel NE will have to win out. I wonder if they can get through this stretch unscathed.

A lot of it depends on Denver's injuries. If Thomas and Sanders are out in 2 weeks I don't see them walking into KC and winning.

I don't even think it will be that easy against Miami without the two..

Definitely a fair point. I just feel NE needs to handle business and find a way to win out. I know that's a tough thing to ask, but they have the talent and coaching to do it should everyone remain relatively healthy. Gronk always worries me, and that will never change. I think home-field advantage and a healthy NE team entering the playoffs would make it hard for me to see NE not playing in the SB.

Miami is looking good. Steelers. Tons of good teams. Kc. I try to not get caught up in it at this point. Too early.

KC also plays @AZ and @Steelers

reminds when the chargers defeated the donkey's last year on TNF, then we choked against the fish...

we need homefield!

If the Chiefs lose to the Broncos, the Pats can afford to lose at least one more game.

We win, #1 seed. We lose can't the pat drop to #3? Pretty big for both the pats and Indy tonight. Pats gotta take care of biz if they want a bye and HFA

If we lose tonite, we drop to #3 .Denver leads the Conference. Weird how all these play out.

No.. we drop to the 2 seed.

At a minimum, if the Pats lose tonight, they no longer control their destiny for a first-round bye (i.e., they could win all their remaining games and still need help).

According to playoffstatus.com, 14–2 guarantees HFA throughout (obviously), and 13–3 has about a 90% chance of the same (with a >99% chance of a first-round bye).

Wouldn't it be 3 because pats would have lost to colts. Shouldn't colts jump to 2?

Never mind screw it, pats are gonna win so why am I getting all worked up about this.

Pats would actually end up dropping to #3 with a loss based on conference record with what i saw ton twitter.

Conference record is more important then head to head i think
DEN lost to a NFC team..if it was a AFC team it would be different
