With all the FA hoopla, a name I have not heard is LeGarrette Blount (other than his twitter battles). Are the Patriots not interested? Is no one else interested? I thought he was a stud and would like to see him back this year.

RB by committee and increased passing have downgraded the value of the position. Plus we have starter quality in Ridley and Vereen [3rd down].

BB's probably sitting this out unless the market looks like it's going to heat up, looking for options too. He doesn't show his cards.

There hasn't been much action on the running backs. They will get their day in this year's free agent market. Part-timer Blount isn't high on the free agent lists.

I hope the Pats are interested he played a very good year last year. He can only play better this year.

I'd rather they try to get Jones-Drew. I know he had a down year but one word, Jaguars.

Pats won't waste cap $ on the RB position with holes at LB, DL, OL and 2nd TE

I want Blount. He has less wear than MJD and is the definition of grinder; he ll always get positive yards and if you keep pounding the ball with him he will eventually break off a big run.

I also don't trust Ridley as our only between the tackles back. I know he said he is stepping up as a leader this year and that he has fixed the fumbling issue, but I ll believe it when I see it.

Bringing Blount back with a dominant defense is the best thing BB could do. Draft Niklas in the second and go back to the two TE sets with Gronk and Niklas and use that power run game. Most teams have been gearing up to stop the pass, CBs safeties and pass rushers have been at a premium this off season. Denver still doesn't have a true MLB and all their LBs seem to be a bit undersized we can take advantage of this with a power run game.

I like Blount, but he's a complementary piece, not a "must have". No need to rush.

The Pats are doing what any smart team should be doing right now - being patient. They've weathered the first storm of FA and improved their team considerably with the Revis and Browner signings. If anyone currently on the market had funny money thrown at them, they wouldn't be on the market at this point. It's a buyer's market now, whether for Blount, Edelman, or anyone else still available. There's no need to go "all in" for any one player, and no need to rush.

Players who were hoping to be signed by now and counting their money are still looking for a deal. In a few days, they will be more eager to sign. Maybe the Pats get Edelman and Blount for reasonable money. Maybe they get someone like James Jones and Knowshon Moreno instead. These are all complementary pieces, not foundational players, even though they have value.

With limited cap space, there's absolute no reason for the Pats to rush into anything that isn't an exceptional value or opportunity.

Wait and get Chris Johnson for nothing later on.

Only if Blount signs elsewhere. BB is not letting that 3rd round comp pick for Talib next year slip away for a reserve running back.

I hope they bring Blount back, too. He's great against teams that the Patriots outman in the trnches, but not against teams that have good to excellent front 7s. Blount is also a sub-par pass blocker. which is a huge liability. Ridley and Vereen are far superior at picking up blitzers and helping out with elite pass rushers.

With his size, Blount should be a better blocking back.

Doesn't the Revis signing kinda offset any comp pick for losing Talib??

I'm not sure the Patriots need someone who has become more of a finesse back than a power back in their power run game scheme. Johnson is a home run hitter but outside of him being a low $ investment, IMO, there's little upside in acquiring him.

Given how little Tate got, Blount should be a cheap contract.

Blount force

Offer Blount 2/3 years at 4/6m + incentives.

I'd love him back as insurrance and pushing Ridley for the starting job again. The main RB trio all loved each other and it'll only help to keep them together.

The market for RB's is very soft. Ben Tate got 2 years with a maximum of $7M, including incentives. Darren McFadden re-signed with Oakland for about a $1.5M base, with incentives. That would be a good base for Blount. Again, there's no hurry.

My 2cents is that Blount wants to stay. I don't believe he wants to go to a team just for more $$$.

So, I see him staying.
