Of course we all want Browner to sign and i think we really need him even though we have the best corner in the game already because the physicality and size he will bring is something alot of players don't have naturally.

However we are all getting too obsessed with this Seahawks method of winning it and acting like we don't have the best QB in the game that doesn't require us to be as good as that D........ and the man like so many times before has hardly any weapons!!

Technically right now Edelman is not even a Patriots player anymore so who is Tom throwing to next year? Gronk and Dobson are the only dudes on that roster that fill me with confidence where i can say 'they'll make the plays and the difference'. After that though there is virtually nobody.

The tactic pre free agency should not change 1 bit, GET THAT BIG TIME TIGHT END IN ROUND 1. People keep talking about Louis Nix and yeah that's fine and all but really we should be looking at a guy that can get that passing game to where it's required. There is nothing wrong with the run game because i'm rolling all day with Ridley and Vereen and whatever jag wants to run 3rd man behind them so all we need now are receiver pieces around Brady to go with what's beginning to look like a stout playoff defense.

We can't pass up on the top tight ends in the draft this year because the glaring need is too big, if someone like Hooman is the go to guy after Gronk then you can pretty much forget about doing anything big in the passing game.

It's time to go all in and get the rings before that dreaded QB change takes place. Do people remember Slater failing miserably at pretending to be a deep threat against Denver? That's all we have right now unless we get those kind of chips that Elway got for Peyton.

Defense wins championships...Lets.

I agree. We honestly need a wide receiver. The Pats would be CRAZY to enter the season without Edelman and with Dobson, Amendola and Thompkins.

What he said. I don't think the defence is THAT far off. Did you see what this defence was doing to teams in the first few weeks of the season? The defence was a huge factor in making us go 5-1 despite the offence having a terrible time of it.

If Browner signs up and we bring in Woodyard and draft a penetrating DT, this defence is set.

We don't have to blow our cap to get this defence to be dominant. Without injuries last year it would have been a whole lot better.

Building on offence is required granted but again I don't actually think we need to panic buy We need a WR and TE with an interior lineman or two.

It's a 53 man squad.

I love what they are doing on D.

I also agree with English Patriot about getting that TE in Round One.

The crux of this team's problems last year came down to having no pass catching TE threat for 75% of the season 9and in the playoffs0>

That terribly affected the WR's - 3 of whom were rookies unfairly judged on a season with no TE threat at all. These 3 will THRIVE in year two if they aren't pressure covered as much.

Get that TE. Get Browner, Woodyard and a DT in round 2. I'm also interested to see the Armstead kid if he can report healthy. Rounds 3+ stack up with OL.

It's go time.

I'm in firm agreement with the OP. We need weapons for Brady.

If Edelman leaves, I think it is imperative we get Steve Smith.

Regardless, we need a second TE, which I think makes for a better WR core in itself due to the pressure that'll be taken off of guys on the outside.

If they get Edelman back and Gronk can remain relatively healthy, the offense will be fine. Let's also remember that there is absolutely no precedent for first year wide receivers lighting it up with the Patriots, so I'd wager Dobson, Boyce and Thompkins will all contribute significantly more next season.

That Denver game might very well had been won if it weren't for the fact that the Patriots had a meager three possessions in the whole second half. Defense couldn't get off the field, and it cost us.

Don't need a TE in round 1 - Fiedorowicz will be the best from this draft and he will be there in round 3. Use the first round pick to trade back (the draft is very deep) or take a DT.

Defense wins Championships and how does that sound when the team has TOM BRADY on the other side of the ball? Sanders, Edelman & Smith are all still available, it isn't unfeasible to sign 2 of the 3 and Dobson & Boyce are heading into year 2 in the offense.

Just think, Brady gets the team up by 3 scores early...the opposition now has to try and pass the ball on Revis, Browner (possibly), Dennard & McCourty plus Woodyard (hopefully) & Collins at LB!

Really the only other big piece on defense that I feel is a need is a good DE to rotate in with Jones and Nink. Everything else from a coverage linebacker to add depth, or a DT to compete with Kelly and the young guys is a nice thing to have but isn't game breaking. I feel like going into the season expecting Jones/Nink to play 98% of the snaps again is inviting disaster in the form of either fatigue or injury.

On offense, tight end is the biggest need, but we also still need a WR and interior line help (especially now since we have either no starting C or no starting G, depending on where Connolly plays).

So I agree, let's not blow all our cap space on defense, though I do think there are opportunities for some good upgrades there still.

enough with the Brady needs weapons BS.

Brady doesn't need weapons, Brady needs less weight on his shoulders. The Defense takes some of that weight off now.

the only weapons that would really boost the offense are the weapons that are priced out of our available cap range. so short of trading for CJ, JG, LF, at reciever its not going to happen.

Move amendola to the slot, Dobson and Thompkins/boyce on the sides, and were golden so long as gronk can stay in one piece while LB's dive at his knee on every play hoping to end his season

Defense couldn't get off the field last couple of playoff losses. We need help on D as much as offense.

You can have both.

Another weapon for Brady could take pressure off the defense's shoulders too.

It amazes me that people think it's either/or.

I take English Patriots point well.

Brady can really open up the offense if even a little care is paid there. Going into next season with Gronk coming off ACL, a worrisome stress fracture for Dobson, and Edelman maybe gone, thereby relying on glassy Amendola--that's not a good recipe.

Where did that get Cinci or SF? You seem to be ignoring the fact that they had Wilson (who is awesome), Lynch (nothing more said) and a DYNAMIC group of receivers that had the compliment of EVERYTHING as a UNIT.

Right now the Pats have the best offensive threat in the game (Gronk) and a guy who is going to stretch the field (Dobson) but for this to happen others must be added and nothing has changed rule or style wise in this league since the 2 TE set of Gronk and Hernandez so it will DEFINITELY work.

Again i will repeat, get one of the top TE's in this draft and watch this offense FLOURISH like it was before that POS went and killed someone.

Well, there's still BIG holes on DL and OL. As opposing teams strengthen their DL, we need to upgrade our OL. Our Center is a liability. You need a solid replacement.

You guys do realise that when Gronkowski came back and was healthy we were the #2 offense in the league during that span. IF he can stay healthy this year and expected Jumps for Dobson/Boyce/Thompkins. and returning Edelman or another WR we will be top 5 again for sure.

besides, Browner is not going to take up much cap-space. Revis only counts for 7million. and if we cut Wilfork we will have 18million in space to spend on the passing game.

That's my point exactly, we need another beast at TE WITH Gronk because we know what it was like without him and cannot afford to be in that situation again.

The tactic pre free agency should not change 1 bit, GET THAT BIG TIME TIGHT END IN ROUND 1.

If your draft priority was always going to be offense, shouldn't you be thrilled with the defensive-minded free agency period? The two phases are complementary. Assuming Browner signs to play safety, they've shored up 2 major roster holes on defense, giving them far more flexibility to go after offensive playmakers.

But as for "GET THAT BIG TIME TIGHT END IN ROUND 1" -- can you name a name? IMO there's very little chance a "BIG TIME" TE will be available at #29.

Sign Steve Smith.
You have Gronk, Smith, Amendola, Dobson.
You have Vereen.
You have Thompkins, Boyce, Collie, and whatever else shows up at camp competing for depth.
Nothing wrong with those weapons combined with a good running game and a D that shuts down the pass.

LOL at the greiving over putting the fastest guy on the team on the field for one play to go deep.

I'm most concerned with the offense getting another TE. And I believe they will either resign Edelman or sign a replacement should he go elsewhere. I want them going for either line or somewhere else on defense in round one. TE can wait until round 2.
