Rumor: Denver Broncos may pursue Julian Edelman

Doesn't matter which WR goes to Denver as long as Peyton is QB their destined to fail in the playoffs.

The Donkeys better back off. Edelperson is staying right here.

you can tell it's the offseason

Welker's $6M for 2014 is guaranteed against injury. I suspect that if he were cut, Welker would argue that given his injuries, that he is guaranteed the money.

However, if these guaranteed, there is $6M of salary and bonus to be saved, $6M of cap savings to be used elsewhere.

I would suspect that DEN would need to have some discussion with Welker in order to avoid an appeal to the Commissioner.

Given this mess, I don't think that Welker will be cut. Welker can be valuable to Manning for 2014.

Is there a precedent for that? I have no idea, but it would definitely be interesting to hear from someone who knows more about it than I do. It seems to me that every NFL player is hurt over the course of a season, so guaranteeing against injury is only really a significant designation if it's applied to injuries that keep players off the field going forward. Since Welker doesn't fit the bill there, I would think that the $6M wouldn't be guaranteed.

Champ Bailey's a $10m cap hit with no dead money. He's not getting that money. Cutting Joel Dreissen frees up almost another $2m. Cutting Chris frees up another $4m, giving the Broncos just about $16m in easy cut money, and that's just 3 quick examples of easy cuts. That eases the pressure right away.

I simply don't know.

If the clause doesn't apply, then I would think that DEN would strongly consider cutting Welker and trying to sign Edelman.

It's Denver.....who really gives a F. We all saw what the greatest "O" did on FEB 2.:singing:

Yes, we see what can happen when you pay your QB $19M less a year than DEN does. That money bought a lot of defense for Seattle, much of it in last year's free agent market.

Sorry, maybe it's late where you live. Since the thread topic is about Edelman going to Denver, my comment is in regards to "DENVER'S" "O" not Seattle, "O". ;)

The reason that DENVER's offense did not succeed was not because it was not one of the best offenses of all time. Edelman could be a part of that offense in 2014, or not.

DENVER's offense will be spending money on free agents, PROBABLY jsut keeping its own.

The point was that DEN lost because SEA was able to spend so much on defense.

Okay, I'm sorry.... You're right.

BTW didn't The Eagles build a dream team from free agency?

It looked more to me as if Denver lost because

a.) They played a bad game

b.) Their backup LT didn't get it done

c.) Their 3rd string center didn't get it done

d.) D. Thomas became shy of contact after separating his shoulder

e.) Manning choked

f.) Manning's arm wasn't strong enough to throw downfield against that secondary

g.) Denver's pass rush was partly in Baltimore and partly on IR

h.) Seattle played a hell of a game

While we are at it  "Source" 32 NFL Teams are in the running for FA WR\KR Julian Edelman.:bricks:

This just in: Team who's slot receiver might be a cap/injury casualty, probably interested in best slot receiver on the market. We'll have more as it develops.

I only got thru a few posts of this thread (Crazy work hours for a few weeks), but if true, I might have to just punch BB in the nose. :boxing:

You are free to believe that DEN would still have lost if Seattle had $20M less of defense.

After all DEN would have lost to anyone. They are DEN; they always lose.

FALSE

They won 2 SBs, OK they did violate the NFL salary cap by tens of millions and get fined and lose a draft pick for their unfair advantage.

Erika Leigh is reporting that Edelman was spotted at the Denver airport with John Abraham. I guess it's pretty serious.

:bricks: :bricks: :bricks:

I will never forgive her for this... she crushed my hopes and dreams with her little "speculations." John Abraham sure would've been nice this year..
